I have recently bought an Acer Aspire 5733 and only just installed sims 3 onto it.
the display is bright when i'm not gaming, but as soon as i start sims 3 up it goes really dim.

I've used the function and brightness keys, no change.
It may be because it has Intel media and graphics, but i have no previous experience of this.

If anyone could help with this problem i have, it would be much appreciated =)

Does it happen in other games too?
It may be related to game settings.

i havn't tried any other games because i don't have any lol.
i've changed the game settings in sims 3 but nothing has changed.
it's definitely the laptop because a notification comes up about not using the correct resolution.
intel notification. but changed it, sims 3 still dim.

    so annoying =(

Resolution has nothing to do with screen dimming so it's not enough to say it's definitely the laptop.
Check another 3D game when you have a chance and in the meantime make sure that you're using the most recent drivers (from Intel website not from Acer) and that the game is patched.

Start by updating your video drivers then.

    done all that..
    no change..

i've found if i start sims up..
    let it load.. its fine.ish..
as soon as i press the windows button to do something else, then go back to it, it goes really dark..
    god knows why..

i think i'm just going to have to play Sims and not do anything else while i;m playing..
which isn't good bcoz i'm a multi tasker and hate just doing 1 thing haha

    thanks for your help =)
