    Screen faded out?

    Hi! I'm new to notebooks and to this site. I've been a power user of sorts since attending a 'puter repair school in '98.

    I aquired this Acer Aspire 5000 for free and got the XP os up and running. The only big problem I can see is that the screen looks faded out the screen is very bright but the display colors faded the black on white is close to normal though.

    Where would I start troublshooting, screen worn out? Hardware or software problem? Any help will appreciated:>)
