    Hi ,

I bought my Acer TravelMate 6592 in August from laptopsdirect.co.uk
The laptop was advertised online as having a 15'4 WSXGA+ 1680x1050 screen resolution.

Today, I have it confirmed that the screen resolution is 1280x800 !!!

However, the same model is now on sale, but with a different spec, that of 1280x800 and a higher price. Here: http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Acer_TravelMate_6592-101G16N_LX.TLT06.001/version-1.asp

Before I bought this laptop I have done my research, looked at various makes and models. I have printed the spec of each laptop I was interested in, therefore I am 100% sure that the screen resolution was advertised as 1680x1050 - I had it on paper - but have since binned all copies (big mistake)
I have actually gone on other forums and posted that spec back in August...so....
Right now I have a laptop that does not match the spec of what was being advertised. However I have no way of prooving this as I have binned all the printouts and there is no mention of the 1680x1050 resolution anywhere in the spec of my laptop and the online spec has also mysteriously changed !!!

I bought the laptop just before I got married, so when I got it, I used it briefly but then put it to one side, as I had a wedding to organise....hence I have failed to act on this in time.

    So...What can I do now ?
I bet each shop's terms and conditions cover any mistakes in online specification lists and ads...so there's nothing I can do ?

I specifically needed the higher screen reslution, even settling for the slower t7100 processor as opposed to the T7200, which was available at the same price but with the 1280x800 screen resolution.

    I feel completely gutted. :(
    Any ideas ?
    Much appreciated.

I think the time do do something about it is when you got it. How much time has elapsed?

    23 August 2007.

I know, but all the wedding preparations put this issue to one side....

I'm going to get in touch with the shop and see what thay say.
    It's a lost case for me, I know.... :(

Well, the good news is that I can certainly get enough resolution to use a second monitor. The graphics card will cover all widescreen formats too.
Right now I will use it with a 19" tft....
But I'm gutted...If I knew that this laptop had only 1280x800 reslution, I'd have chosen the T7200 model with more chace memory ( 4 MB as opposed to my 2 MB). To be honest, places that specilise in one particular product range, in this case laptops, should get the spec 100% right. No space for mistakes here.
I actually remember now having confirmed the spec over the phone with a sales rep ...

It's a nice laptop otherwise. Highly recommended, but in the current circumstances, in the T7200 or T7300 guise ( not the underpowered T7100).

I still want to query this with the shop, if only to see thier laughable refusal to acknowledge their mistake. "Sorry Sir, but in anycase, it's been over four months and we can't deal with it...go away" :(

You certainly can ask, but I don't think they going to do anything you for you as it's been four months.
