Hello... I need some advice on selling my Acer Aspire 1690WLMi.

I brought it last September hoping that it came with an ATI X600 graphics card, but it didn't. I decided to keep it anyway as I wasn't going to be gaming that much at the time I brought it. But now I'm going to university so that means I will be gaming a bit so thus, I need a new laptop as my current one has an Integrated graphics card...

Basically, what do I need to do to my laptop so it goes back to the same state it was in the day I recieved it. Meaning, how do I clear everything off my hard drive so it goes back to exactly 60GB, but leaving all the software etc that was included with the laptop when I first used it... I need it to go back to being 'brand new' so I will be able to sell it, I just have no idea how to do it...

I have asked people on a few different websites and they gave me answers, but seeing as I'm not very good with computers, I had no idea what they were talking about!

So if anyone could help me out as to what I need to do that will be brilliant. Thanks in advance for your help!

    Kind regards,
    -Alex.

I think you can use your recovery cd that comes with the laptop, and it will return the laptop to the initial condition, with all the junk softwares etc.

well i would be glad to help first to get rid of you hard drive memory it will need to be Whipped/restored.
note there is more detailed instruction in the Acer book that should have came with the computer

background - the way i am explaining this is the that way i did it on a toshiba with xp home. my acer comes with 3 disks windows(might be acer software as well), software, and norton ativirse. the steps i have written below will reset the Hard drive, i don't know if it will reinstall all the basic software that came with, if it doesn't then you will have to install it form the cd when you have re-configered windows.

if there was no recovery discs then you are going to have a very hard time getting it to the exact state of new. (post a reply if there is none and i will try and i will try and come back and give a list of the basic software that comes with(what not to remove) and i will try and give instruction on how tor removes stuff it you need help

    Step 1
find the recovery disc the came with the computer (it will be the windows)
    Step 2
to turn you computer one and put the disc in the tray when it is started up( no not close the drive it will not do anything)
    Step 3
shut down the computer and shut it down
    step 4
push the cd into the drive when it is off
    step 5
when the acer screen apears press F2 or the function key that it says to press for set up options.
    step 6
there could be a couple of screens that apear
there could be a menue that has a lot of options to choose from (Step 7)
or it could come up with a dialog box that says do you want to restore your system(or something along those line) (Step 8)
    step 7
you will need to find a option that will say something along the lines of system restore. you will need to select it and follow the instructions. it might ask what exaclly what you want to do(example "are you sure you want to restore...") say yes and eventually it will start the cd and it will show the progress of the of the reinstalation of windows.
    Step 8
this is what happened when i restore my toshiba all 15 times(was brand new and on 5 months old when i threw it out). i have never had to do this with my acer, follow the windows throught it migh warn you about losing infomation on the hard drive but always select the option that will restore the hard drive, this is what you want

if this works the setup options(configeration) for windows will apear when the computer turns on not the login menue. the acer software might not be installed but all your other stuff will be gone and the other software can be either reinstalled after you resetup windows(if you want to) if not sell the software disc with the computer and the new person can instal it. if you just have one recovery disc reinstaling the basic software will be done atomaticaly

good luck and post resonse if you are not sure about any of it
