Hey guys / gals.
Firstly, I hope this is in what can be described as the right place - I'm sorry if an admin feels it's in the wrong place, feel free to move it if necessary, thanks & sorry if I got it wrong! Ok, onto to my post:
I'm seriously considering selling my PC to get a laptop and a TV, (and if money permits, a Wacom Intuos4 tablet too).
I've been extensively looking on the net for the past few days to see what's available; however, I have had issues deciding which to go for, but yesterday decided to go for an Acer Aspire, but do not know which to get; let me explain why, there are a few key factors:
1. Budget is no more than 1000GBP, (so yes I'm willing to buy second-hand if fully working & in good cond').
2. I have yet to sell the desktop, but if all of it is sold I ought to get about 1300GBP for it all.
3. I can probably get some extra cash.
4. Some of the laptop models I looked at yesterday & today are seemingly no longer available in the UK, (primarily the AS8942G).
5a. The laptop must be i7 with Full HD & 2 hdd bays.
5b. Talking of hdd's, I was thinking of how much it might cost to get a mini 64Gb ssd installed into a mini pci-e slot to load my legit copy of W7 x64 onto, to then of course allow me to get 2 x 1Tb 2.5inch 7200rpm hdd's for the 2 hdd bays. Any advice on this please? Is it even possible? If so, which currently-available-in-the-UK laptop models & mini ssd makes/models would allow me to achieve this?
6. I live in the UK, so do not think I can get anything from outside these shores, unless of course you know better.
7. Bluray is not essential at all, nor is bluetooth, (I have a lil bluetooth dongle), if, there are at least 3 USB 2.0 ports; but Wi-Fi, (b/g/n), RJ45 and at least having 4Gb of RAM is essential.
8. Laptop does not have to have a TV tuner installed as I'm hoping to buy a 32inch TV.
9. I know some of you may just suggest I put all my money into getting a laptop to watch TV on, but I have a 23inch D**l PC monitor at the moment so no matter how good the obv' smaller laptop screen is, it will never be as good as my current monitor is, so that's why I'm getting a separate & of course much larger HDTV.
10. Battery life isn't really that important as it'll be plugged in to the mains mostly.
I'll of course start a new thread as soon as I know what model I'm going for, but to make that decision I need to work out what features I can get for my budget on available laptops I can buy in the UK.
For the record here:
Budget for Laptop is dependent on what's available that meets my needs as far as features are concerned. Priority = 10/10.
Budget for TV is 286GBP - Priority = 9/10.
Budget for Wacom is dependent on raising more funds or selling all of my electricals, lol. Priority = 6/10.
Laptop build quality is important for me, I'm a stickler for good design, as is reliability.
Any help/advice/tips welcome, thanks for your help!![]()
