    Hi,

I've been having more and more problems with my notebook lately and have reached the point where I am ready to send it back to Acer to have it looked at and repaired.

I couldn't find anything on their website on how to go about doing this. Could someone please give me a link?

Also, what experience do you guys have with the time it takes to get your computer back from Acer?

    Thanks a lot...
    Oliver

First make a list of all your problems then call Acer:
    English: (800) 816-2237
    French: (800) 509-2237
    Click on Contact Us: http://global.acer.com/
In case the Acer site takes forever: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=106595

After waiting a VERY long time you will eventually reach a Customer Service Representative (CSR) and they will ask you your name, phone number, and serial number of your laptop.

Once you tell them all that you then tell them all the problems you are having with your laptop. Once you are done they will give you a service request number either on the phone or through email. They will also set up to have the laptop shipped to the closest repair facility (Fedex etc).

Once you have put your laptop in a box with sufficient protection you must include the service request number with the laptop. Seal it and have the shipping company come and pick it up.

    Now...
    1) If you are not using a copy of Windows that was not installed by Acer, you should restore your laptop to Factory settings by the recovery cds.

    2) Back up all your files. Do this in case they restore your laptop to factory defaults. For me they always do it.

    3) Only include the laptop, DO NOT include the battery, or AC adapter, or CDs. Only include the laptop unless they say otherwise.

    4) When you call Acer and give them your email address, all this information will be included in the email, so you will know exactly what to expect.

    5) Pray that they don't make your laptop worse or screw up big time.

The time it takes to get the laptop back is usually a week for me because the repair facility is nearby and shipping is only a day. For others it may take a while, depending on your location and proximity to the repair facility.

vestige: You're a lifesaver. I've strayed away from using forums in the last year because I got so fed up with useless posts in the threads I would create. But you gave me everything I needed and more.

Fingers crossed that Acer is having a good day when my computer arrives. I will keep you posted...

    Kudos :notworthy:

Does that website work? cause the first time I tried to set up my repair it said they couldn't find my System Serial Number. I had to call in have my system shipped to a repair facility, and at that time they registered my system. I wasn't able to register it myself.

    hehehehehehehe

I not sure that works either...
    1 motherboard
    1 new hdd
and they still don't know how to fix it.
now its sitting in my room, still debating if I should throw it out the window or send it back to acer, first option has a higher chance of fixing the problem. ;)

    costing Acer lots of $$$$$$

Can you beat this amount of repairs:

    7x Motherboard
    3x AMD Turion ML-30 CPU
1x Mobile AMD Sempron 3100+ CPU
    3x DVD-RW drive
    1x AC adapter
    5x LCD
    5x LCD bezels
    5x LCD lids
    5x LCD inverters
    2x 8-Cell batteries
4x Cases: upper and lower case
    5x Wireless cards and antennas
    4x Thermal modules/cooling systems
    9x Hinges
    3x Touchpad
    3x Keyboard
    1x Front-panel

    Total parts replaced: 66

This is all between January 2006 and March 2007. I still have 2 more years of warranty left and my laptop is currently at the repair facility.
