SetFSB now supports the PLL ICS954310BGLF.
Now CPUCool also supported this PLL, but the software was a bit buggy and refused to work in Vista x64.

But SetFSB works like a charm.

So, basically, the Acer Aspire 3680; Aspire 5570/Z; Aspire 5580; Travelmate 2480, and a couple of more notebooks can be overclocked easily. Also, notebooks that have this PLL, can be OCed.

Weird, I was able to go upto 200MHz with a Celeron M 420 and DDR2-800 RAM, but I can't go above 170MHz for some reason now, with the T5200 and generic Hynix DDR2-667.
Anyway, I still got a 25% OC. Will get Corsair/Crucial DDR2-800, and try and achieve a 50% OC. Temps are under control atm. :p

Well, you need to know the PLL no. for the 8920G.
    Without that, you can't overclock.

And how do we find it? I'm also interested in OCing my 6920

You'd need to open up your system and look for the clock crystal.

Check out this site. Take a good look at the ICs and the various company logos. They are normally on the upper/keyboard side of the motherboard. (There may not be a crystal, but the IC will be there)

I won't try to disassemble everything in case I break something. I don't have hte fund to buy anothe laptop if I break something. I guess I'll just wait someone else do it.

Best for 2Day....Can't seem to hit the 50% OC. :(

Phhew....~40% ain't bad. I can play San Andreas at high with a good fps of 60+ :D (on a GMA 950)

Nawwh, its fine, if you're stable, and not killing your H/W. (My temps are good)
I've had better OCs in the past, so this is still less. :)

BTW, check out the txt files in the BIOS update folders for your notebook. I know there is a txt file in the Aspire 5315/7720 BIOS update folder, which also lists the PLL no.

there was a thread about 6920G OCing already. I tried every PLL on the old SetFSB version, is there any way to now exactly which ones are newely added to try them? Cause I, like everyone else, is not comfortable is disassembling my notebook to that degree to see the PLL chip =)

Yeah, RAM was OCed to about 350.9MHz, I can't really stop it from OCing.... :D
I am afraid there is no other way to find out the PLL chip. it doesn't show up in the registry, etc. and the BIOS updates don't include any info regarding 'em.

There is a 99% chance that the FSB is controlled via the clock generator chip, but a 50% chance that it is not supported by any of the software out there. If you know the PLL, you can get the datasheet and mail it to the guys at SetFSB, etc, and they'll add support for it. (That's what I did)

    Optimism is necessary here. :p

I just quickly went through the list of PLLs. One read my FSB to be 266, the other said 133, 5 of them crashed the comp :D (the real value is 166)
so basically nothing new :p maybe one day I'll get crazy enough and open it up, when I get a new chip maybe, that'll be worth it :p

You will have to disassemble the notebook to find the PLL. You won't have to open it much. Just need to remove the keyboard, and the upper casing.

No, you won't lose your warranty. Try not to damage anything, because the damaged parts won't be covered under the standard warranty.

Maybe you d not need to disassemble it completely. And if it's like the 6920, i's not too complicated. Just follow the step carefully

You could always download the service guide for your notebook and search for clock generator I lucked out and only had to unscrew the bay where the hard drive was, remove it for a sec and done took about 5 minutes. Unluckily my pll isn't supported but I e-mailed the creator with the nesseccary specs and hopefully it will be in the future.

The Clock Generator code is hardly readable but I see ICS(9?) LPR(S?) 3()(). You can see all (ICS) 9LPRS here. I'm guessing that the clock generator is either ICS9LPRS365 or ICS9LPRS355. Of course this theory is based on the assumption that in the System Diagram ACER used correct code and not just used a random one to show where the clock generator is and how it look like...

Update 1: 8920 PLL is unreadable from the diagram..sorry.

Update 2: 5930/5730 PLL is readable from the System Diagram - RTM875N-606-VD

Dang ATG, you made it too easy for everyone. :D

I think it is the ICS9LPRS365, since the 6935 has the same one.

    I didn't know that so I guess I'd agree with you, it's a ICS9LPRS365.

there is not such PLL in the setfsb list.

You can provide the necessary details to the SetFSB developer, and request him to add the PLL functionality to his software.

    So here is the answer:

    Hi,
I do not have the RTM875N-606-VD datasheet.
    Can you obtain the datasheet?

And, I examine the PLL data.

    1. start SetFSB.
    2. select the clock generator to "RTM875T_587". (not RTM875N-606-VD)
    3. click "Diagnosis" button.
    4. click "Get FSB" button.
    5. click "Capture" button.

Please send "Diagnosis" screenshot of the /setfsb_2_1_82_0/capture folder.

How atthegates did he get the RTM875N-606-VD datasheet for the Acer 5930g ?

ok right now there is a problem to set the fsb of the Acer inspire 5930g because there is what we need:

    Hi Olivier-san,

Hmm..., I do not have the RTM875N-606 datasheet.
And, This is different from the setting of usual RTM.
    Can you obtain the datasheet?
If it is possible, Could you send me the datasheet?
    abo

    anyone?

Has anyone tried to overclock a SU3500 on an Intel GS45 chipset? I just got the Acer 1410 or the Acer 1810T Timeline, and am very interested in trying to get a bit more juice out of it because flash video performs quite poorly on it. Cheers!

TME is enabled, so no overclocking. I'll try to find a hardware solution when I get my 1810t/1810tz, but this will take a while. If someone else wants to try first, search for the pull up resistor connected to pin11 on slg8sp513v, remove it and connect pin11 to ground via 10k resistor. Register settings of slg8sp513v aren't documented in the datasheet but I've found out that they are identical to other clock generators made by Silego. It's best to use slg505yc264bt to over/underclock in finer increments.
