Okay, so I've got my Acer Ferrari laptop

What are the steps that I should take to remove partitioning (I just want one big C: drive) and to reclaim any space taken up by Acer's system restore, etc. preloadedness?

I've removed a partition on my desktop using Partition Magic 8, so I can probably do the same thing to remove the partition from my Ferrari. True?

How do I rid myself of unnecessary preloaded Acer backup things? Thanks.

Maybe a fellow Ferrari 4005 owner can fill me in if you've been through the process already :D

Well, I don't own an Acer Ferrari (congrats!), but I can help you out. ;)

To get rid of the partition(s), merge them with the software you have. Make sure that both partitions are using the same file system (it would probably be easier to leave them both FAT32, then convert the entire partition to NTFS afterward). I also suggest formatting the second partition before you merge.

To get rid of the software, I believe that you can just uninstall it in the control panel. Or, you can just ignore it - I did when I had an Acer.

Ahoy thanks for the advice Chaz :D

Go you run that part about "formatting the second partition" before merging by me again? I assumed that the hard drive and all its partitions would be ready to roll on a new laptop :(

If it's not to much trouble for you, could you maybe just jot down a

    etc.

    list for me?

I'll be resizing/deleting partitions and converting to NTFS using Partition Magic - I just checked and it can convert the drive for me. So the last thing I'll do with be the conversion to NTFS after I have my single, partitionless drive, what comes before that step? Thanks a bunch!

    Sure thing. ;)

    1. My Computer > Right click D: (second partition) > Format > use NTFS.

    2. Convert C:\ (Primary partition) to NTFS - very easy to do - info here.

    3. Merge partitions using software you have.

    4. Uninstall software.

My first post is a bit out of order, yeah, especially the formatting/etc.
