Hi
How do I change the shared graphics memory on this laptop? The card has a 1gb dedicated ram anyway so I do not need it also using 1.2GB of my system memory. There is no option in the bios to change this or no other option I can see, why have they done this? I just want it to use the dedicated 1gb and that is it really.
Cheers

It won't use it anyway, unless the system really needs it. It's all controlled by Windows Vista so you don't have to worry about it. The graphic card will use the dedicated memory first as it is dedicated and much faster and then if only it needs more, will use some from RAM. But 1GB is a lot of memory so I doubt it will need to use more. There is no option in BIOS or in graphic card's control panel because as I said it is all controlled by Vista.

k cheers.
I have 4GB of ram but I get it to like 80% used when I know I am nowhere near that, so I thought that just over 1GB was being robbed by the graphics card for no reason! So it will only share it when and if it needs it? It does say "available" and not used so I guess I know what you mean. -
80%!!!!!! wooooo that's a lot. Mine right now is 33%. You need to find out which programs occupied that space. I don't think that it's your IGP. What's your specs btw?
You can open the task manager (right click the task bar and choose task manager) and in the processes you can sort them out by memory usage.
Right now my firefox is biggest spender with 72MB and then a host process for window services with 58MB. My total processes are 54. Don't forget to press the Show processes from all users. I would expect to reach around 80% when you play games like Crysis which, I think, it can occupy around 1-1.5GB. You probably have many applications running in the background making your PC slower at the same time. -
Firefox uses about 900mb to 1.5gb on average for me, I do have tons of tabs open (generally about 60) though. I just found that windows vista doesnt see more than 3.5gb of my ram too. -
How is it look like and how do you navigate among 60 tabs? Isnt it easier to create sessions (group of tabs) to surf
