Have you read my review? CS:S and HL2 run okay. I've tried HL2 and it was decent. Since it is at least dual core, it has the oomph for video encoding. However, the Core2 isn't much of an improvement over Core from recent benchmarks. Chances are you don't need the added horsepower. I would say the best thing to do is to add more ram. It is quite possible that the ram that was shipped is corrupt (mine might be, and someone else has already posted their test using Memtest) and go or at least 2 GB of new sticks. That should give you what you need. Also, I paid $749 USD for mine. Does that convert to 999 CAD?
