I am planning to get this Acer 8102WLCI

    P4 1.7
    1G DDR 2
    DVD/CD-RW combo drive
    60G HD
    15.4 screen
    ATI x700 with 128mb
    bluetooth
    card reader
    build in wirless

    for $9600 HKD = $1237 ???

I know the new P4 mobile Dual Core process coming out, should I wait for it and pass this deal?

I would try and stay away from the P4 for mobility comps. In a laptop it runs much hotter and drains battery faster. If you are looking for a good laptop with Proc then go for the Pentium M.

A P-M 1.8-2.0 runs about the speed of a P4 3.2-3.4. It is much better with the P-M and you can find them for a decent price nowadays.

    Hope this helps.

Is the travelmate 8100 series does it use P4 or P4-M? If it does use a P4-M is this a good deal?:decision:

Base on Acer's website I am pretty sure it is a centrino processor. What hopes me back is should I wait for the Dual Core processor lappy come out within this couple months or should I just get this.

It is a Pentium M. You'll only see a large benefit from the dual core if you are a heavy multi-tasker.

I would get the 8104, so far I've heard very good reviews on that laptop. If you have the extra dough I would get the 8204 though but the 8104 is still very sufficient.

I think i will just get the 8102 but I want to check out the Asus before making my finial decision. Since I am in Hong Kong right now I just easily get to the shop that sell the laptop and no need to wait for shipping.
