I have no issues whatsoever with this laptop, but just saw that there is a newer version of the BIOS available from Acer. Should this be updated? What precautions should I take before doing so?

    Thanks.

Any BIOS upgrade is inherently risky, because if anything goes wrong you have a completely unbootable system. That means sending it back to Acer to have a complete motherboard replacement.
You should only upgrade your BIOS if/when Acer tells you to.
And if your system is working just fine, why bother with the hassle?

If you do plan on upgrading anyway, make sure you've got a backup of your data just in case, and that your laptop is plugged into the wall power.

Thanks TehSuigi, I also saw similar advice after posting this and decided not to bother with it. Also, I couldn't determine from the Acer website what the newer version of the BIOS v1.2 contained. I am not going to do it.

Thank you for treading on the side of caution and asking for advise first.
    +1 to you.
