now his has abit of damage (but the laptop works 100% fine)
the damage being the hinges that hold the screen up (so it don't hold up on its own)
and a little bit of cosmetic damage on the screen frame (not the actual screen)
so what you think?
would it be worth it and to fix the screen hinges?
-
If you can swap it at no cost and you don't carry the laptop around it looks like a good deal.
MSI has made quite a few laptops that literally fall apart when touched so I wouldn't count on it being sturdy but as a gaming machine for home use it should be OK.
Just make sure there are no other issues like BSODs caused by GPU overheating and similar. -
do you know where i could get the hinges from?
and the surround for the screen
then i suppose it will be tip top -
E-bay probably. But my guess is - it's not gonna be tip-top for long.
I used to own a notebook that had hinges that were defective by design and it made the chassis crack. I replaced the chassis and the same thing happened within a year.
Also based on Ex625 I would say MSIs have a bad habit of being build like no one cares what happens in a few months.
As long as you want to keep it on your desk it's probably a good deal but if you intend to carry it around, open/close the lid often etc. this is probably not a good idea. -
Swap for a week before you make an official decision.
See if his rig can stand up to intense gaming sessions without overheating. See if you can put up with having to prop up the screen every time you use it. Yours might have the higher resale value which could go towards a brand new one. -
i think ime going to just leave it
even though its a much better laptop than mine (performance wise)
but my 6920g is in tiptop condition
not a single scruff or signs of wear -

I would take it if I were you. The card alone is worth a good bit and can be put in other similar but much better built Clevo laptops.
Actually for example if you were to find an m570tu barebones, which may not be too difficult, you could swap the LCD, CPU, GPU, and RAM into it. -
ok the guy has come back from holiday and wants to do the trade with me
(he is a student and cant fix this without paying someone)
ive found the screen bezel for £30
but i cant find the hinges
so ime going to do the trade this tuesday
Should i swap my laptop for this gaming one
