Why is my brand new Acer Aspire 7530 so slow?

CPU: AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM80 (2.1 GHz)
    L2-Cache: 2x1 MiB
    RAM: 4 GB DDR2
    HDD: 320 GB (rpm 5400)
Nvidia GeForce 9400M Hybrid SLI (256 MB)

I have an HP Pavilion dv6827, which I bought last summer, and it is so much quicker.

    CPU: AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60 (2.0 GHz)
    L2-Cache: 2x512 KB
    RAM: 4 GB DDR2
    HDD: 160 GB (rpm 5400)
    Nvidia GeForce 8400M (256 MB)

I can't figure out why the Acer Aspire is not performing as well as the HP Pavilion. Any ideas?

Have you tried removing bloatware, looking at the number of processors running in task manager and are all drivers updated?

So, help me understand this, with the data given above should the two laptops have the capacity to be equally quick? Or are there other aspects to take into consideration?
