    Hello fellas...

I am having some small problems with my new acer 3820tg.

    1. Runs low fps in cod4  (worst 14 best 90(if im looking into a wall))
    2. If i play for long time it gets really hot and tends to freeze (does it freeze because of me overheating it)
    3. I cant acesss my bluetooth program (i have not had a laptob with bluetooth before so maybe im just doing something wrong)

I have heard that the ATI mobility radeon 5650 can have some issues running console ports such as cod4. I have tried disabling the catalyst AI from the catalyst control center but i did not do a remarkable difference.

I cant solve these problems on my own.

Hope some of you geniuses can help me fix my problems.... :D

No offense ... but the place for this post is probably in the 3820TG owners thread. It will get read a lot more there and you'll get a lot of great advice.

not to antagonize you, but I actually prefer each topic to have its own separate threat. I hate having to wade through several hundred pages just to potentially find an answer to my problem, if it has already been answered.

as for the OP, there's quite few things to try...
regarding COD4, make sure you have CCC 10.7 or 10.7a installed and nothing else (ie, not 10.8), and the 3D AI turned off.

As for the bluetooth, I can only recommend that you check if LaunchManager is installed by hitting Fn + F3 and see if anything pops up. If not, you may need to install that from the Acer Euro site.

No problem, I'm very hard to antagonize. I suggested that because I know that a few other owners have had these issues with these same games. They are usually in that thread and could respond to the OP in a meaningful way. If we didn't bump this thread with our comments, this question would have already passed onto page 2 and into oblivion.

Take the temps with CPUID Hardware Monitor and write back at the owners lounge.

I'm not looking at the Acer forum for 3820 threads, I only read the owner lounge.

unrelated question about CPUID - I did a temp check on my father in law's laptop yesterday (3820 i5 430 w/ 5470) because I was using it for hours and it was warming up a bit on the bottom (nothing too bad). it showed temps for vid card, cpu etc all really low (between 30 and 50 degrees C, but showed the DIMMs ranging between 97 and 250 degrees celcius. I assume that is some sort of error, as 250C is enough to melt a whole bunch of stuff?

Okay... I have now had a post on the "Owners lounge" but nobody answers  I really hope that somebody can help me boost my fps (no "just turn down graphics") but help me make my computer pull what it is supposed to do...

I don't know if this will solve your low fps problem but it's worth a shot.

Right click on desktop > Graphics Properties > Click "Graphics" in upper left corner > PowerPlay

Here "Plugged In" should be set to "Maximize Performance".

I had problems with very low fps a few weeks ago after reinstalling the display drivers and found out that this option was set to "Maximize Battery Life".

As for the overheating, I have a 5820TG with only one fan (3820TG has two) which cools both the GPU and CPU and have never had slowdowns, freezing, BSODs or anything like that while playing even with overclocked GPU (my brother plays Bad Company 2 on this computer for hours with overclocked GPU). Is the notebook on a hard surface while you're playing?
