I have an acer travelmate 5514wlmi...in the last month it's been heating up to 59 degrees working 55 idle...i was looking for a solution here yesterday but from what i see everyone has the same heating up problem with the hard drive. It used to get quite hot by the touch pad.
What i did was, unscrew the fan and when you do that u ll see a pile of dust where the fan blows outside. Remove the dust. put the fan back on. It makes great sense because the fan cant blow the air outside so there is no circulation inside the laptop so the hard drive heats up...
As soon as I turned my laptop on, it was running at 41 degrees....

I hope this works for everyone... sorry about the bad english !!

    Thank you,
