Guys I bought today Acer 5930g, very good lappy, all is fine except one thing, I’m hearing some flicks from speakers, it can happen even if I’m not doing anything, there is no logic… I’ve tried to reinstall driver, vista… nothing helps, even fresh vista installation. But, when I’m using default OS sound driver, there is no flicks, it starts only if I install “full” realtek driver.

i've seemed to notice a trend when acer releases a new model especially when based on the REALTEK HD Audio chip... there seems to be sound issues with most new systems and over time there will be numberous bios updates many mentioning a "bo bo" sound error.... but they will resolve it or patch the BIOS trying to fix it!!!

you may have to run the original drivers until they get a couple of BIOS updates released,,, (that is a new system based on the montevina chipset isn't it?) if so,, expect the BIOS UPDATES to come fast and furious for the first 6 months as different compatiblity issues arise but it should only get better!!

Well, i used driver from Acer FTP, used from realtek site. There is no problem without driver at all, but in this case sub buffer isn’t working, it only works with driver installed...

if you have a system with the "sub",, it's an established fact that the sub only works when using the drives from ACER (they have been customized to control the SUB).. and the REALTEK drivers usually work the other functions of the speakers and headphones... but no SUB

Well there is no original driver for XP :) So if you want to have sound in xp you need to download from realtek latest HD driver.

Well, I understand what is this CHICK sound. There are some kind of power saving mode in sound card of 5930. And pc goes to it in 10 seconds without sound, I think he just disable soundcard. And when he disables it there is some little CHICK sound happens. When you do something which cause sound (change folder or launch mp3) sound card enables before sound with the same chick sound.

I used stopwatch to calculated period when sound card are active w\o sounds, its 10 secs…

I have acer aspire 5920g but there is no such function, so I think it’s something new to Acer laptops, but, the problem is that other 5930g owners, don’t hear any CHICK sound…
