    I'm thinking about getting a cheap laptop and I have this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115491 in mind, and I have a few questions about it.

    1. I see that the battery is a 6 cell batter with 2.4 hours battery life. Is this true? Is there anybody with this laptop that can tell me there experiences with it.

    2. Also I understand that there is an 8 cell battery available for this laptop. Can anybody give me a link where it can be bought?

    3. Also can you have 4GB or 3GB RAM in it? Correct me if I am wrong but this uses the GL960 chipset which maxes out at 2GB .... but I see in some posts that there are hints to 3GB booting up depending on which slot each module is put in.

    4. Can I upgrade the processor to T8100 or T8300 or something of that sort?

    i have not looked at your model,, i'll check the BIOS text files to see if it mentions CPU support... most all ACERs w/ 960 will support socketP cpus upto T8300 easily,, and we've even seen success with the T9500 CPUs in the aspire 5315,,, which has a gl960

    BTW the GL960 after upgrading CPUs to a CORE2DUO now is reported as a 965.. and that's using intel's chipset id tool....

    you BIOS is going to be the KEY to using 3 gigs of RAM the chipset supports it. on the ASPIRE 5315 you can use 3 gigs with XP or vista.. but the 2gig DIMM has to be in a specific slot... other wise you get the same BSOD errors you get when trying to boot with 4 gigs of ram...

    the ONLY place to buy a BATTERY is thru ACER.... the generic batterys often fail(as high as 90% have trouble if they even work)... even a battery of the same exact part# from the same exact manufacturer may not work as well as an ACER BRANDED battery (i'm not sure why).... but spend the extra cash and save alot of hardship and frustration.

    i average over 2 hrs with a 6 cell battery using NO POWER MANAGMENT,, i do run RMClock to undervolt my cpu and control the CPU speed-stepping

    EDIT::

    the attached file is the LATEST BIOS build notes... and by reading you can see
    so Penryn CPU support was adeded... in ver 1.23
    but update to the newest BIOS due to newer features in newer BIOS versions such as advanced cooling info

    Thanks a lot for the info bigozone..

    Do you know where I can find any videos of upgrading a Acer laptop's Socket P CPU?

    Also for my model or 5315( since they have same chipset) which DIMM should the 2 GB be put in?
