I've had this laptop (Aspire 6920G) for about a fortnight now and I'm having problems with my sound. It crackles at all volumes. I've looked around quite a bit now and I've found several different explanations mostly involving drivers etc. I've updated my Realtek HD Audio Drivers and nothing, it still crackles. Could this be a Hardware problem?
Thanks for reading! Help.

LOL. Possibly, you need to update the BIOS.
You can download your BIOS here, http://gd.panam.acer.com/home/
This website is official acer support driver and download website.
Well, I should warn you that flashing of BIOS can be deadly.
A bad flash can lead to death of motherboard. Do it at your own risks.
If you don't want to take risks, you can try to do a CLEAN installation of Operating System(OS). After that, only install everything you need for you laptop.
This method can clean-up all useless Acer crap software and the system will be better and faster due to less useless software and start-up has been eliminated. -
I'm getting Windows 7 soon, should be dispatched shortly after October 22nd, I could quite easily wait. Will simply installing that solve the problem?

After flashing the new BIOS, the problem solved.
However, the THROTTLE problem still exist. If you don't mind, please check this topic, http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=403988
It is about the AS6920G super faulty issues. I have the THROTTLE problem fixed after all. Generally, my AS6920G have no issues now.
I am not sure installing/reformat the OS will cure the problem but basically it can.
