Just received my new Acer Timeline 3810TZ-4925 today

#1) My webcam works flawlessly with the Acer program, looks great, no lag, framerate appears appropriate, etc. However, when I use the webcam for AIM video chat, it becomes pixelated, distorted, and their appears to be considerable lag in the framerate. This is NOT a network issue as I have the fastest cable internet possible in my area. All of my friends who use AIM videochat have none of these problems with their stock webcams, including my friend who has an older acer. What settings am I missing? I feel like I've looked everywhere. thanks

#2) The sound on this laptop is SUPER low. I cannot hear hardly anything at full volume. Literally my cell phone is louder. I am not expecting huge sound out of this unit. Maybe I am missing something? I feel like I've checked all the settings on this too.

Can anyone recommend different drivers or settings that I may be missing?
    Thanks

Check the WebCam settings there are 2 modes HD and Normal.
HD WebCam mode may not be suitable for AIM Chat

Next the sound is indeed soft however you can set the volume to max in both Realtek HD Audio setting as well as Windows Volume Control.
This will raise the sound level to acceptable levels.

Are you talking about the adjustments you can make in the Acer Crystal Eye program? because adjusting between 320x480, 720p, etc has made no difference. any other ideas?

sound was already set up like that. oh well
