I have owned an Aspire 2026 for two weeks now and am very pleased with the machine. I only have one problem, the space bar. It has to be hit pretty hard in the middle to function, a light stroke on the bottom side won't work. This is most annoying and leading to words being joined together and needing editing.

Does this sound like a problem with my keyboard or do I just need to get used to the keyboard? The soft, wide flat keys do take some getting used to... but it really is the spacebar that is proving to be the only real problem...

I don't use this forum often so please if you have any advice to offer email [email protected].

    Thanks
    Jon

Hey Folks... I see some of you have read this. Any thoughts? Is it me or the keyboard? [:I]

    Hiya,

I have a Acer 1801WSMi and have a spacebar dodgy like yours. I'm still trying to work out if its a fault or they're all like this.

It get damn annoying cos its so intermittent. If you strike the space bar in the middle, it works every time. Its just if you strike it at either end.

    Cheers,

    Wayne.

    Yes Wayne,

It seems to be the sensors. They only work in the middle. Is it a fault on our machines or are they all the same? I'm mastering how to use it now... BUT...

    HELP!!!

I'll get onto Acer then, although I checked a 2023 at Tott Court Rd and the spacebar on the machine in the shop was very similar.

Do Acer in the UK take long to work on a machine which is under warranty?

    An update!

I've now had my keyboard replaces under warranty and now all is well. Obviously a dodgy keyboards.

Repair was very quick. Laptop sent by courier on Tueday and it was returned to me fixed on the Friday! Excellent service from Acer!

    Cheers,

    Wayne.

Excellent... I'll contact them pronto. Many thanks. I still have the problem, but have got used to it. You say that you don't have any spacebar problems at all now?

Yep, no problem unless I hit the very edge of the space bar - only the same as most space bars.

    Good luck

    Wayne!
