    Ok here goes :

This is how much space my files took on C:\

And this is what it shows it has :

Now according to my calculation there should be 9.74GB free space on C:\ but as you can see it's showing only 3.88GB!! Why and how can I solve this problem??

Could it be that you are not showing 'hidden files'? Check the options set in explorer, Tools... Folder Options... View tab... Advanced settings, show hidden files and folders

That remaining space may be taken up by:

    1. system restore points
    2. your hibernation file (this depends on your amount of RAM)
    3. the Windows pagefile

Its likely that these three features will consume several gigabytes of your hard drive space.

    These aren't...hmm files. At least they aren't 3 :D

You can turn off System Restore but if your system got messed up you won't be able to recover it. For the record even Windows Update can mess up your system(that's why the Updater always make a restore point before applying the update). NOT RECOMMENDED.
You can turn off Windows Paging File but if your system goes out of RAM it will crash and any work you have in progress will be lost. NOT RECOMMENDED.
You can turn off hibernation, especially if you don't use it like me.

I am not sure you get a hibernation file if you have never actually hibernated, so if the system has never been allowed to hibernate turning it off may not reclaim the space.
Disk cleanup can be used to remove all but the most recent restore point if you are happy that you have a stable system.
The pagefile can grow unchecked depending on your options and it might be possible to reduce the size of it if it has been allowed to get too big.
If you fail to locate the missing space I would still suggest you look to ensure you are not ignoring hidden files...

windows does reserve parts of the hard drive for al sorts of junk.
so run disk clean first, then do a defrag.take a look in add and remove programmes and see if you have stuff in that you never use.
acers come with loads of trial games and junk.
but if you have loads of photos,mp3's and stuff that would be better of on an external hard drive. get yourself one or if you have any old hard drives laying about, get yourself a hard drive caddie/enclosure.
worth the money and you can but all your back-ups on them.
Keeps all your stuff well safe.

    All the best
    Phil :D

Well, it seems like tuneup utilities have everything sorted out....it deleted restore points (Keeping the original one, only the one that windows needs to restore from) and it also turned off the hibernation which freed up like 3gb+ so now in total tuneup utility helped me free up like 7gb :)

You can also make the system restore to take less space that it does now. There is also the recycle bin that you can decrease its size. So you can save space even more. Finally you can decrease the size of the page file as well. Windows reserve something like 1-2x of your RAM. It is better to set it at 1.5x of your RAM. My suggestion is to not turn off any of these features as Windows depend on them greatly.

also if you watch videos online (youtube in HD for eg)
your temp folder will get pretty damn big in a short time
