Hi,
I recently installed the Realtek Sound driver V 6.0.1.6096 on my Acer 4820TG-7805. Since then the sound sounds bogus until I click on the symbol at the top of the volume control and open the speaker properties (s. screenshot). Without me performing any changes here the sound changes back to normal (just from opening the window). When I don't play any sounds for a while the problem occurs again until I reopen the properties window. What can I do about this?
Originally I installed the new driver because my speakers started creaking a while ago and I was hoping that would solve the problem but it didn't help. Maybe there's a even newer driver version? Or has anybody another idea to solve that problem? It's only the built in speakers, not headphones if I plug some in.
Maybe it is important to mention that I have an unknown device in my device manager which has not been there when I initially set up the system. I don't know where it came from![]()
Thanks!

There is a more recent version of Realtek driver- 6.0.1.6343 which is available for download here.
-
Thanks, but the download doesn't work. I click accept, next and get basically redirected to accept again...
-
It does- you probably have to have java scripts enabled for this to work though.
You have to check- "I accept to the above" and then click Next.
You'll be transferred to list of sound drivers for download (for different systems for HDMI device etc.)
I just double checked that it works so if it doesn't for you just try another browser. -
Okay, so I installed Version R 2.59 now and got version 6.0.1.6343 for the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver and in addition to this I obviously installed an ATI High Definition Audio Device (whatever that is...).
On the upside I think I overcame the issues with the weird sound before I click the symbol.
On the downside I still have the creaking and I realized that my sound signal doesn't get transmitted to a TV using HDMI although this has worked in the past. I cannot tell with which driver though... -
The HDMI one would be to blame although it may be just an issue with the settings.
HDMI uses a separate audio chip that is a part of your ATI GPU so you can either use Realtek HDMI driver or HDMI driver that comes with ATI Catalyst.
When you use Realtek driver HDMI shows in the Realtek HD Audio Manager in Control Panel although you can't change a lot there. -
Could you give me some further description where to switch on the HDMI. I couldn't find it in the Audio Manager
-
Is there a second audio device visible in the device manager?
-
It looks like in the attachment.

Audio looks OK but there is a device missing.
Any idea what could it be? -
I know... but I have no idea what it could be! I am very sure that all devices where installed when I set up my Windows...
But where can I switch to HDMI from here? -
Finally got it! For some reason the "High Definition Audio Controller" under System Devices was deactivated. I activated it and tadaaa, there finally was the HDMI Output under Audio Davices! Thank you!
Btw, I found that here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/501017-4820tg-hdmi-issue.html#post6490800
