I spilt some coke over my laptop yesterday. The computer itself is fine but the keyboard is a nightmare. Anybody got any ideas how I can remove the keyboard to clean it or any other useful ideas?

I tried prying a key off but it seems to me as it's not possible to remove them altogether. I can only flap it up a bit but it stays attached.

    Any help greatly appreciated!

EDIT: Oh and don't recommend me to call any customer service.. I'm currently residing in Japan and don't know enough Japanese to go through a customer service call..

LOL! Well, #1 recommendation I guess is to keep food & drink away from the laptop, but obviously this is a lesson learned and at least the motherboard isn't a sticky mess.

Most notebooks can be taken apart with a Phillips head screwdriver, I don't know of any special technique with your particular laptop, but if you look and see where the screws are that hold your notebook together you can pretty much figure out how to get the keyboard off by removing enough screws (keep track of what you remove though!) and then clean the keyboard. Good luck, and be careful.

If the layout of your 2000 is anything like my 1800 you may be able to lift the small panel above the keyboard.
underneath mine there were 3 screws to undo and out popped the keyboard. It's probably connected to the mainboard with a ribbon cable.

Once you get it off I'd suggest you use an aerosol can of electrical contact cleaner to wash off the gunk. It's full of solvent cleaners and so it will evaporate quickly but I'd leave your keybord to dry out for acouple of hours or even overnight before refiting it.

    GOOD LUCK
