The title of it pretty much says it all. I've reinstalled OS's before on my old systems but never on a laptop. I have my DVD disc made from eRecovery, and I have a copy of XP Pro on disc.

1.) Do I just go to a DOS prompt and type 'format c:/', and then stick the WinXP CD in the drive when I reboot or is there a better way to do it?
-I've merged the two partitions into one NTFS, but the hidden one is still there.

2.) Should I download all the drivers I'll need BEFORE I go through with the upgrade, or are those on the eRecovery DVD?

3.) What should I do to keep the Acer junkware from being installed if using the backup DVD is necessary?

Anything beyond those questions will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    1. Just booting off the XP CD should allow you to install XP (if you are serious about getting rid of what was on there, I'd suggest deleting all partitions and starting over)

    2. YES, I highly recommend downloading all drivers and unziping them all onto a CD so you can use it later

    3. Nothing, if you have to use the restore CD you will get all the "junk" just take it as part of life.
