I've tried NHC and RMclock, none of them could adjust my AS5562 LCD brightness.
Does anyone have idea about how to adjust LCD brightness(by application)?
I have no choice but still use acer ePower.. :(

Have you tried the fn+< > keys? Just forget about epower(uninstall it) and use the manaual FN+< >. Those are what allow you to manually control the brightness of your screen.
The reason why RMClock and NHC cannot control the brightness is because of the way how Acer programs it's bios, is not compatible with them.

I know the hotkey, but I search the app like ePower that can set LCD brightness level quickly. Actually ePower's function is fine, but it's buggy, and cannot run without administrator privilage(that's why I dislike ePower).
Anyway, I tried to figure out ACPI command of this laptop, maybe I can adjust LCD via NHC...

I use RMclock and I just disabled ePower and hole Acer Empowering Management from running at start up
and this does the job for me.

What I have now is that when I plug in AC power LCD brightness goes to
80% and when I unplug AC power brightness goes to 40% as I set it ,everything is the same as ePower is running :D .
This is good enough for me,if I want to change the brightness settings with AC power plugged in/out I just have to run ePower.

Unfortunately a number of acer laptops it seems to be older methods of LCD brightness display that I almost think is directly BIOS controlled (since it works in Ubuntu without any drivers to make it work, just works) anyway, like you I ended up giving up and just using FN + arrow keys to change it when I need to.

I adjust the intensity of my screen simply with the ATI Catalyst icon on the taskbar. Often, it's gamma that's the problem rather than "brightness". On my Acer 5044 with Xpress 200M, gamma needs to be set down from the default setting, otherwise the screen is too bright and neither contrast nor brightness can compensate for it adequately. Gamma is sort of like the "Picture" setting on your TV. I simply created a set of profiles in Catalyst Control Center and then these are instantly available by right clicking on the taskbar icon. Simple. Of course, you will have to do something else if you don't have ATI.
