There's lots of information on this topic but I have failed to find a definitive answer.

Do you need to keep PQSERVICE?

If you install xp and delete PQSERVICE never intending to go back to the recovery discs does everything work happily?

In the same instance if you formatted and put vista on is there any problem?

Is my understanding therefore that the PQSERVICE partition is ONLY needed if you intend to use the restore discs again?

    thanking in advance.

PQService is only required if you plan to use D2D restore.

Restore disks work just fine without the PQService partition.
