I had my 5672 plugged into the wall and when I remove the power, the screen went black (while still being on, you could see the LCD light but just black), and everything was locked up. I could not use caps lock, but I could turn off bluetooth with the switch.

I had to hard boot it.

    Any ideas what this is?

I am running ePower and NHC at the same time, and I am thinking one of those 2 or the combination caused the problem...

I had the same problem with my Aspire 1694 some time ago. I unpluged electricity and screen went dull. Since then i'm unable to run notebook on battery. It stops just after windows loding screen, i can move mouse pointer and thats it. I reinstaled windows and it changed nothing.
Please give me some advice how to solve this problem!?

It's funny you mention this problem. The exact same thing happends to me when booting up my 5672 on battery (unplugged). The screen goes blank, wireless and BT switches are still active, but the computer is jammed, completely unresponsive. However, on the second try (after a hard reboot), it always works (??).

I'm pretty sure it has to do with the video card. I noticed when booting (on the 2nd try), while windows is loading its drivers and such, the screen goes blank for about 1 sec. I believe this is the same spot in the boot process that my screen went blank the first time.

Does anyone have an explination for this ??

EDIT: I am also running ePower.

    Cheers.

    Ugh. Doesn't sound good.

Seems like it's going to be hard to identify the problem unless someone that's already found out posts the solution.

I wouldn't be suprised if the ePower Management tool is at fault here. As I explained in my previous post, the problem seems to occur while loading startup programs.

Perhaps you can try uninstalling ePower. That might solve the problem.

    Cheers.
