I just got an Acer Aspire 7530. I have noticed at several occasions now that while in resting mode (screen black) suddenly a small sound sequence of about 15-20 seconds will appear which sounds like a car race and also some musical tones mixed in. It stops as suddenly as it started, the screen being black all the time.

    What is going on?

It's some sort of dumb screen saver that does a sort of graphics demo with sound. The blank screen is because the power options switch the screen off. Either adjust the power options or dump the screen saver.

PS. One of the older Acers I had came with a default screen saver that crashed the machine, so things have improved.

Thanks, I will give it a try. It is Acer's default screen saver that I have been using.
