A while back I posted about a strange sound coming from my 5680 laptop every now and then. Can't find that original thread anymore but no one seemed to experience the same thing.

Well, here I am 6 months later and I still hear it and am wondering if anyone has heard it too.

Basically it sounds like a picture is being snapped. My original post said it came from the right side of the laptop and some replied that it could be my DVD drive. I'm hesitant to say this again because I'm not all that sure it comes from there.

One would suspect that a system restore point is being recorded but I don't have that set up. Also, the last time I posted about it I was running XP and now I'm running Vista so it seems to be OS-independent. I do have the Acer power management utility running. Could some other software be doing this (e.g. MS Office XP)?

Surely someone else must be hearing this too!
