I'll be short n simple. I accidentally (don't ask how) deleted a folder containing 180 GB of data from my 8920 (with 640gb hdd), and foolishly emptied the recycle bin after that. The data was in drive d: please give me some help guys..i have no idea how to recover my life which is my-180gb folder. Honestly, this is the most f-up error that ever happened to me :( :( :(

First of all, do not put ANYTHING on your hdd/partition where the 180GB folder was. Do NOT copy/move/delete anything from there.

GetDataBack is good(so I've heard, never used it) but not free you can get a trial from here.

Windows System Restore won't be able to bring back personal data - it only focuses on Windows and program files.
But yeah, undelete software is your best bet.
    Otherwise, you are kinda SOL.

There are 2 programs i know of which you could try, one is tuneup utilities, it has a recovery feature on it, you a get a 30 day full usage trial.

    http://www.tune-up.com/products/tuneup-utilities/

Another one is by the makers of ccleaner, basically just a recovery tool:

    http://www.recuva.com/

Whether these programs are any good I wouldn't know as i've never used them to recover anything, never had the need to. Also, like atthegates said, don't put anything on the drive where the folder was until you've managed to recover your data, this is a must!!!

Consider this a lesson learned: It is ALWAYS a good idea to have a rolling backup of your system.

very grateful for the response, guys.. :) :) i'll try one of 'em..

    I just wanna ask this
do you mean, don't put anything new in the partition? or i must had only the deleted folder in the partition in the first time... because i also have another huge number of files in another folder in the same partition...what happen if i run these programs? are they gonna delete them? I'm wondering if these programs run format-disk-like process. it could give me another problem..

Well, its best if you don't write anything on that specific partition. If you do, the harder it will be to recover those files. When you run programs on that specific HDD, they will definitely write to the HDD, and there is a chance that the lost data will get buried under another layer of data.

Window's delete does not destroy the files, but only removes the indexes. The data is still on the HDD, and can be recovered easily.

Run Recuva, etc asap....otherwise you'll need a much more powerful data recovery tool.
