Ok I bought my 5100 about a yr ago, cant stand vista. So we formatted and installed XP, so far so good. I was on the acer site looking for drivers, got most, but my cd/dvd rom doesnt work. Are there drivers for it and where can I find them as I dont have the partitions anymore.
Is there someone that has this model laptop with xp and has the recovery cd? If I use the one that came with Its going to want vista reinstalled and I dont want that.

    Someone help, thanks.

must be hardware. the worst case is that the southbridge chip on ur mobo got fried. however that would lead us to a stuck hdd also. hmmm try reinstalling xp.
