Hi, I only today got a new Notebook, the Acer TravelMate 2310
It has the Synaptics Touchpad v5.9 integrated. Sadly, the scroll-function doesn't work properly. In a normal explorer window it's all no problem but e.g. in Firefox, I only get a tiny symbol showing a scrollbar with a mouse-cursor in it. No scrolling, nothing happens. Any idea what that means?

It means that Acer doesn't give a **** about providing the owners of long forgotten (ie. dropped from their catalog) models with the most recent drivers. On Acer's ftp server the most recent ATI Mobility driver for my laptop is a year old. I cannot run some of the newest games with these drivers. And the same goes for other hardware, like touchpad, wireless etc. or even the BIOS.
So, if you are looking for the most recent drivers, improved stability and new features, go for generic drivers. Try http://www.synaptics.com/support/drive.cfm. Keep in mind that with these drivers you lose customized features, which are equal to 0 in most Acer laptops anyway.
For ATI drivers try Dhmodtool from driverheaven and the Catalyst drivers or OmegaDrivers.net.
I am deeply sorry everyone, it wasn't my intention to bore you to death with my rant. -
Even the Aspire 1694 I have which was only released a couple of months ago needed the above Synaptics update.. and the Catalyst one, of course.
