I just bough this new baby called Travelmate 3201Xm
Its used laptop, have few years but looks gr8 and have good graphic card, I want to upgrade memory (512mb curently) and harddisk (80GB now)
Anyone knows how to upgrade hidden memory (256mb in hidden slot), I dont have problem accessing second slot.

Another question is what is max size harddrive I can put? 160 will work no problem? Im thinking about Samsung Spin Point M5 160 GB (5400, 8MB, ATA/100).

    Thx for any helpfull info

might the slot be hidden under the keyboard.... i've seen more than a few laptops with one stick on oneside of the MB and a second slot on the reverse side

you might hit a BIOS limitation of about 137gig... but that can be overcame by using DynamicDriveOverlay software.. DDO software is usually available from HDD manufacturers website

    160 G doesn't really mean 160 gigabyte
i won't go into details here.. search google for "HDD size calculations"

the 10Gig that you MAY loose access to is not worth running a DDO in my oppinion,, but that choice is yours...

the DDO software comes from the drive manufacturers site not the laptop manufacturer

a 160 gig HDD is not actually 160 gigs......

you are only going to gain 18 gigs by running a DDO... and you will suffer a performance hit in doing so.. the DDO works by converting HDD info from 1 standard to another...

but if you really want that 18 gigs that bad... check the website of the hard drive MANUFACTURER

    who made the drive??
