    I am wondering is anyone could help me deciding whether or not to buy the following computer...Acer Travelmate 293LCi w/ 1.6 Pentium M, 855 Chipset, 512 Mb DDR Ram, 40 Gb, 15" TFT, 64 mb graphics, lithium-ion battery, dvd/cd-rw, 3 usb ports, 1 fi-wi port, infra-red port,56k modem, wireless lan 801.22 b/g xp pro, for US$1,450...good? Should I upgrade anything on it, or any advice on programs etc...I will be using in to type notes in class and watch DVD's while travelling...don't play games...thanks for any suggestions and help

    This is a good choice for a notebook given your needs ans the price is good, as well.
    However, I would recommend you the Acer Aspire 2012WLmi which, right now, is at a killer price at www.newegg.com Hopefully you don't mind the 15.4 screen. Just follow the link:

    Look around for reviews on the 2012 if you happen to like it. For many people it a 5-star product and has better specs that the TM293LCi. The price of the 2012 is also lower - $1293 (FedEx shipping included).
