    Hello all,

I received my laptop a day ago (TravelMate 3002) and have found out that I have one dead pixel in the screen. It is below the center by a few inches. It is noticeable esp. when I tried to play a movie.

I tried rubbing the screen by a cloth for 5-7 sec and that didn't work.

Is there another way to fix it? Would Acer Support be willing to fix it?

I will try calling the retailer I bought it from though I don't want to receive another one that is worse than what I currently have?

    Thanks!

It could be also a stuck pixel ... not sure what's the difference of a dead or a stuck one.

It is red on a white background.

Most manufactures and retailers have a limit of how many dead pixels your screen has to have before they take it back or replace it. The minimum I've seen is three.

A dead pixel is black. A stuck pixel is another color, yours being red in thise case. Shane is probably right, most won't take one back for one pixel. You could ask. Worst they can do is say no. You could try Dead Pixel Fixer. It flashes all the colors. Sometimes it can unstick it. Good Luck.

    zazonz,

Yeah I have looked at that Dead Pixel Fixer but is there a chance it would create more stuck pixels by doing that?

    Can anybody confirm this?

    Thanks ...

I actually ran it on my Dell monitor which had and still has one dead pixel.

It's possible... technically... but very rare.
And most of the time, new stuck pixels formed this way are easily fixed by simply running the dead pixel fixer again.

    Thanks everybody,

Tried to run it for two hours on that area, not the whole screen, and no success.

But it doesn't look as visiable as before but it is there so I guess I will get used to it.

    Thanks again!
