My TM 6292 has some issues and I think it has to do with unsuccesful win xp pro SP3 update some time ago. My question is:

Is it better to run the eRecovery (alt+f10) from the hidden partition or make a completely clean install with a win xp disc I got with my old tabletop? I guess I could use the product key on the bottom of my TM to activate it?
I am asking beucase I'd like to have my TM running like new, but without all those stupid trial versions of different programs (norton, ms office). Just a fresh win xp pro with some empowering utilities.

If do either of those and I back up all my files to D: partition will they be safe?

It's better to do a clean install with your XP disc, your product key will work fine and will activate properly, yes, your data would not be affected if you back it up on your drive D:, as long as you only remove or reformat partition C: during the XP setup process, remember, don't touch or do anything on partition D: to keep it safe.
