I have a Travelmate 2420 with a vga port at the back. However I'm not sure how to activate it, nor if it's video in or video out. Can anyone help me out here? As I'd like to at least do something with this port whether it's broadcasting the video to monitors or using it to record from other pc's

    Thanks in advance
    -Bodster.

Edit: I've been able to plug in a monitor to the back of this laptop with no problems now, however it does not allow me this option when using a VGA to S-Video adapter. Is there any way to force the option to transmit via the VGA OUT? Or will this only happen if it detects a monitor/projector?

If you want to force the signal through the VGA (and subsequent S-Video), then you will have to use the Fn key combination. The external display key will be somewhere in the F numbers, but it is different for each notebook.

I tried your recommendation but it only allows for Laptop monitor display and won't allow me the other options unless I plug in an actual monitor. (not quite the desired outcome in this instance) :(
