    Hello there
I love the 2920, my wife has one with the T7300 CPU and it is really great. Light, fast (after removing all the bloatware), cool and the battery lasts forever.
So to the point, you will need a VGA cable or S-Video cable. The best choice is to go for the VGA cable as it has a much better quality and supports high resolutions as well. Then you will need another one cable for the sound, to connect your laptop to the TV's speakers or any other pair of speakers. When you do all that and you have set your TV to VGA signal (PC input or whatever they might call it), you should press Fn + F5 and your laptop should send the image to your TV if it hasn't already done that automatically. Let us know how it go and if you can't see the image on your TV you might need to take further steps (like: go to the graphic properties and try to set the monitor there).

hi, thanks very much for all the info!

am i right in thinking i'll need 2 cables then?

also, what about the S-Video option?

I'm not home for a month or so but i'll let you know how i get on.

You said something about the acer being a lot faster after removing the 'bloatware'.. what were you referring to?

Thank you again for all your input!

It depends on your TV. Do if it's an HDTV then it should have one or more of the following ports: HDMI, VGA, Composite, and/or svideo.
Your laptop has a VGA port so you just need a VGA cord to hook it up.

feel free to ask anymore questions ;)

We need to know your TV and the inputs it has. What's your TV then?
It might not have Component inputs so that cable is not useful to you.
Here is a photo of HDTV that has all kinds of video inputs so you can compare to your TV
The rest of the inputs I haven't labelled are for audio so that's another story.
    I hope this is useful.
