Anyone have any information perhaps instructions, photos, diagrams that would aid me taking apart my Acer 8204, I want to see if the fans are dirty, it's even hotter now than I remember it being before. I've had the front off to change a keyboard but it was a real pain working out which screws to undo and finding where the plastic clips were etc. Others on this forum have had this thing apart, can anyone help?

Actually Patrick that thread links off to no-where land :(

However, for the Fan it's easy, first off you want RMCLOCK or NHC or something so that you can actually monitor the temp, just because it's really nice to know you're not insane!

Secondly take off the bottom cover (the one covering the fan) and using a compressed air cannister blow cold air into the vent on the right side of the laptop (left side if it's upside down!) and this should blow all the dust out, go back and forth a bit, make sure you get the fan spinning, and... bobs your uncle you should have a nice dust free "cooler" laptop.

Thanks for your tips, if anyone has a copy of the service manual referred to they could post, that may help. I've removed the cover on the bottom and will have a go at it with an air canister.

I have SpeedFan installed I'll check out the other utilities too.
