Anyone done this, or know how to do it?

Seems like I might have something under my keys as some of them aren't quite working properly anymore (you know that when you press them and they don't really go down properly feeling).

I haven't tried anything yet (including just shaking the machine) but wanted to see if anyone could advise how to just take the keys off and clean under the keyboard.

If I were you, I'd have it fixed under warranty. Notebook keyboards are a pain in the ass - they wear out far more quickly than desktop keyboards, and the little "x-legs" underneath them break easily. You *should* be able to pop the keys off just like a desktop keyboard, but you may find that you break them or that they will start popping off by themselves if you remove them (my Gateway notebook keyboard is doing this just from regular wear, even *without* my removing any keys).

Chances are Acer's techs won't bother to fix your keyboard, it is too fiddly and too cheap to be worth their time - they'll probably just put a new one in.

The problem is they probably wouldn't fix it under warrenty, I can almost guarantee what is happening here is that there is a little bit of something under that key, and I just need to get it out, last night the function key was being a bit stiff, this morning (having carried the computer to work) it's the shift key that is stiff, and it's the right hand side of the left shift key (if I push down on the left side of that key it's okay, on the right side I can hardly push it down at all).

I might try to use some paper to get out anything under it, maybe that will work without trying to pull the key off.

Another option would be to gently go over the keyboard with a vaccuum cleaner nozzle, probably best done with a brush attachment.

try taking the computer and tipping it on it's side if the stick key changes then there is definatly have something in it, you could also listen for the "thing" ine keyboard to fall. and maybe you can get it into a corner were it won't be a pain.
