Just ordered the new Acer TravelMate 4502WLMi, and I'll be getting my hands on it soon, maybe a few days. Guess it just beats the 4501. And I should say the specs are really cool to make it a Desktop Replacement.

    1.6 Ghz Dothan (2MB Cache)
    512MB RAM
    64MB ATI Radeon 9700
    60GB HardDrive
    DVD Dual(R,RW+/-)
    15.4" Wide Aspect Screen (19:10)
    Bluetooth Integrated
    FIR (Fast Infra Red)
    3 in 1 Card Reader

    Acer 4502WLMi Certainly Rocks!

    Hi,

I understand you are from Singapore.

    1. Where did you order it from and at what price in Singapore Dollars? Could you please give me the name/numbers of 1-2 stores that stock it in Singapore?

    2. Could you please confirm the following:
    a. Does it have a 15.4" WXGA or a 15" XGA screen
    b. Does it have integrated Bluetooth
    c. What is the battery life (is it a 8 cell or a 4 cell battery.
    d. Is the OS Win XP Home or Professional?
    e. Is the wireless b+g?

I have someone coming from Singapore in the next couple of days and would like him to bring this for me.

    Thanks for your help,

I just found out, the one you get in the US is the 4502LMi and I am getting the 4502WLMi so that probably explains why the one you get in the US has a 15" and the difference in the other specs as well. So if you are looking for the specs I mentioned above you ve got to get the 4502WLMi. Cheers! Anyone got some more info, please post.

Well Im actually getting it from Dubai. It's not here in Sing I suppose, its just the old one you get here. but this is the new one im talking about and yes the screen is 15.4", and has integrated bluetooth. The Wifi is 2200 thats supposed to be b/g right? im not sure. And Im not sure bout the OS either, but from what Ive heard it's supposed to be XP Pro. Ill let you guys know once I get my hands on it. It comes to around 1450, pretty good for this price it seems. Well The specs vary from what you get in the US. Coz the US model has 80GB and only a 15". Well Im kinda confused as well with all the variation in specs. I guess what Im getting is the european version.

    Thanks everyone for the information.

Brodahood - did you order it online from Dubai or is someone bringing it for you. Do you know the name/number of the store. It so happens that I have lots of contacts in Dubai as well. Funny thing is that Acer Dubai does not mention this model (just like Acer Singapore)

The specs are definitely confusing - especially given that 4501 was 15.4" widescreen mode WLMi as well LMi (15" regular) and 4502 LMi(US model) is definitely 15" regular aspect ratio...

no clear info available on bluetooth (most probably not there).

Also a bit unclear on the 4 cell vs 8 cell battery issue - given that lot of buyers (and sellers!) were confused in case of Aspire 1681 - I wanted to make sure..

Ill put up a post once I get my hands on it, to confirm the specs and diminish all confusions. Someones going to bring it down for me, and he knows what he s dealing with. According to my speculations its not a gulf model, seems to be european.

I believe it may depend on the region where it's being purchased. Possibly in Europe or Asia it may be 15.4". I did a search in Google and found a site in the UK that has the 4502WLMi listed and it only has a 15" LCD (non-widescreen).

This is the manufacturer's part number: LX.T5006.198

All the lmi models on the Acer UK site are 15" while w models are 15.4" widescreen so I'd imagine the w singnifies widescreen.

well I agree with with murph, and venombite that site you mentioned is not reliable at all. The 4502WLMi should be a wide screen. Anyways Im out of luck, the 4502WLMi seems to be out of stuck form where i was going to get it, and now they have the Aspire 1683WLMi, basically the samething thing but with 1.7Ghz, only 4 cell batt, windows home(not XP) no port replicator pin, and no curved keyboard, not sure if the speakers are stereo or mono. Now am really confused whether to go ahead with the buy or not! Anyone bought the Aspire 1683WLMi already? I really was looking forward for the 4502WLMi.

I would definiately go with the 4501 instead because the Aspire does have mono sound and you might simply get the non widescreen version by mistake if you try to find the 4502. The specs aren't going to be that much different... just get another hard drive if you really care about the larger size

I have the 4502LMi and couldn't be happier. Quiet! Cool, even after using it for hours. Battery lasts at least 4 hours (I never left it on longer). DVD movie's look awsome on the screen. Sound can be better, but I know I read somewhere here how to fix that, I think. On linksys.com they have a test that checks out your computer (through the router) and everything came out excellent..Except good on the memory, I have 512 and I think it had 480 or something like that? I'm kinda new, so maybe someone can explain?
    Anyway..I love the TravelMate 4502LMi.

    regards

    Hey TM4502gal,

Congrats on your new notebook! Looks like everyone who gets one of Acer's newer units, seems happy with their purchase.

Regarding the memory, the reason why you get only approx 480MB of memory appearing on the test is because your video card is currently sharing your system memory. Your video card doesn't have it's own memory so it shares with the system. Normally, 64MB gets allocated from system ram to your video card, therefore only 448MB is available to applications. This amount may change depending on your graphics usage, but expect to always have approx 64MB less in system ram because of the video card.
