Sorry for the "double" post, I've totally missed Your question, a pity I still don't have the answer on that one. (I need the product number for future import).

In Germany the Timeline X is purchasable in many versions.
An Acer Aspire Timeline X 3820TG-434G64n with Core I 5 and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 costs here about 850€ which is 1.134,155 US$.

    Greatings from Germany ;)

As I told you 540+5650 should be around $(1350~1400) if ACER doesn't keep it's low-end CPU trend.

    yes, i5-430m

Ok, it doesn´t count for you. Perhaps it count for the others...

Well, there i can see 3 versions of the X3820TG, 3 versions of the X4820TG and 3 of the X5820TG. They differ in cpu (core i 3-330m, i5-430m), gpu (intel gma, ati 5470, ati 5650, so 3! different gpu´s) and harddisk (320GB, 500GB and 640GB). Price range from 699€ (approx 932,6757 US$) to 899€ (approx 1.199,5357$), depends on the model and configuration you select.

For me, THIS are many versions.

Sorry for my bad english, i hope you understand what i wrote :D

new infos i got directly from acer:

the travelmate timeline versions with core i cpu´s appears approximately in the 4th quarter of the year. i couldn´t get a more precise answer, as a consequence i don´t know, if the travelmates will be purchasable with ati graphics too. so it still will be a long time to wait.... i think i´d rather buy the consumer timeline, can´t wait so long :D but the displays of the travelmate are much better *hmm*... and a dockingstation would be nice too...

Do you know when this versions will be available?

Oh thank you. Perhaps i should tell this my ex-english teachers *gg* well... i could xD :D

I had email contact with the sales manager from notebook.de yesterday.
He told me 4820TG with Core i7 620M will definitely (I asked him twice) come to germany. But he won't say any accurate date. His estimation was about 5-6 weeks...

How much is the difference between ati 5470 and ati 5650 in use? And how much points do they score respectively? Can you play games like age of conan on the weaker one?

I am from Norway and the one with ati 5470 is for sale already (though probably not shipping yet it seems) but there are still no signs of the one with ati 5650 so I am considering to get this one if it is powerful enough. I am no gamer so its not important with powerful graphics though it is nice. Just the processor is very important.

How would the ati 5470 compare to my go7300 in my dell? Solid upgrade?

Does the machines have and use a multitouch trackpad?

Sorry about all the questions, i do alot of research before buying things, and have been following this and other threads for weeks and maybe months=)

Oh yeah, you'll see a nice jump in performance going from the Go 7300 to the ATI 5470. Solid upgrade. But nothing like jumping to the 5650.

Try this site: http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Mobility-Radeon-HD-5470.23698.0.html. It has some benchmark information on a bunch of GPUs. The GPUs are listed by classes along the right.

In fact sales tax in Norway is 25%. Without tax the Acer Aspire Timeline 3820TG Intel i5 430 with the HD5470 is: $927.

You wil notice a significant difference between the 7300M in your computer now and the HD 5470. Those blobs that you would see on your computer screen will look more like people.

The 5650 is significantly better than the 5470. It benchmarks nearly twice that of the 5470. HD 5650 3DMark06 avg score = 7,076. HD 5470 3DMark06 avg score = 3961. :(

Bottom line, the Icores and the HD 5650 are worth waiting for. I would buy the Dell Vostro 3300 - I5-520M / G 310M / 13.3" rather than this configuration. The prices would be similar, the Dell would have a better CPU, would come with a backlit keyboard and, if you could live with a silver version rather than a red one, could be delivered by April 16th. The I7-620M and HD 5650 are well worth the wait.

But the Vostro 3300 has NO HDMI. And there is no dockingstation available, so there is no possibility to get a digital output. Only the 3500 and 3700 are with HDMI.

That´s why i don´t purchased the Dell until yet.

I was just comparing it to the low spec TimelineX. I am not really interested in the Vostro because I need more power than either of those computers offer. So far, its the 3820TG or the Sony Z11 are my only options. That's why I'm patiently awaiting news from Acer.

Hey man thanks. Will the coming model with HD 5650 have an i7 processor or a more powerful one than the i5-430 http://netshop.com/aspx/loginVnet.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2faspx%2fprodukt%2fprdinfovnet.aspx%3fplid%3d144815%26__redir%3d1&plid=144815&__redir=1?

I think I'll wait for the HD 5650 as it would probably suit my needs for a looong time. And if it would bring along a more powerful processor it would be really great. I record music with an external sound card so all power is welcome! But would this processor draw more power? Would this more poweful system have less batterylife (with the integrated graphics instead of the dedicated)?

I guess perhaps there won´t be other configurations as the three i mentioned.
Because at the homepage from acer Germany I can only find these three configurations. I hope this is temporary but it seems bad to me at all...

We all believe that we are merely seeing the first of the TimelineX models to hit the market. When the timelines were first anounced, they were to include options for the I7-620M and the I5-540M CPU's and the HD 5650 GPU. See my sig for the model number of the TimelineX I want.

As far as computing power vs. battery life, these units should have switchable graphics. If battery life is a big concern, you might want to choose the I5-540M or lower spec'ed I5 over the I7-620M. Battery life is estimated at 8 hours but if you are gameing and using the dedicaed GPU full time I would guess that batteries would be exhausted after a couple of hours.

I'll let you know once I get one. :)

As Bronsky said in previous posts, Acer announced the "low config models" first. So there is a lower entry price on the market.

But this is simple to explain. Example - Aspire 5740.
If you have a look here (Konfigurationen), you can see only 4 models with Core i3 330M and i5 430M.
BUT if you start a price comparison search like this. You can see that over 18 models exist...(including Core i7 620M and Core i5 520M)

    @ Bronsky yeah, that's exactly my model ;) but 4820 please! (4820TG-624G64MN)

I was wondering about model numbers...

    i5 430m+HD5650 system 434G64n
    i7 620M+HD5650 system 624G64n
    i3 330M+HD5470 system 334G50n

Could the i5 540M+HD5650 system's product number be 554G64n? (Haven't find anything on the web though)

It's seems to me the first two numbers refer to the CPU, while the G50n would refer to the HD5470, and the G64n to the HD5650.

Sorry for my speculation, but this is all I have for the waiting hours.

999 EUR (including Mehrwertsteuer) for a i7 620M+HD5650 powerhouse, nice.

Now, we only need it in a 14" and 13" form factor.

So you're leaning in favor of the i7, despite the concerns about the relatively small boost in processing power vs. power consumption? I'm hoping that the two heat sinks take care of the heat too, but I'm still not sure about that...I've been leaning more toward the i5 (if it's 540) in this case.

JP$, I'm also leaning towards the i5 540M. From what I saw, the small increase in performance isn't warranted by the increase in price and power consumption. As soon as someone in Canada has a 3820TG with i5 540M + 5650HD they'll get my money.

Nice! (I'm new to this website and thread.)

I was thinking of buying an Asus Ul30vt-A1, but fortunately I found this thread of this awesome Acer with i5 + 5650.

    Some questions,

    1) i5 +5650 is which one these, "Acer 3820/4820/5820?"
    2) i5 +5650 will be 13.3" or 14.1"?
    3) i5 +5650 will be under 4 pounds?
    4) When will the i5 + 5650 laptop come out for sale in the U.S.?

3820/4820/5820 correspond to sizes 13" 14" and 15" so answer to question 1)-3) would be.. yes. maybe.
but in short, i don't think anyone knows for sure which models will make it to the US.

welcome to the big wait  which.. hopefully wouldn't be too much longer since they are popping up in other countries already. *fingers crossed*

I have nothing to add to all the speculation but I've been following this entire thread for the last month and this wait is absolutely killing me. Coming from trying to justify asus ul30jt specs to suddenly seeing an icore and 5650 in the same size, similar batterylife, and for similar prices is quite astounding except for the fact that this thing still is non-existent! I can't believe I am so impatient I have no brand loyalty but I actually want to give Acer my money...Where's the goods already!

    ^^^ :D.

I've already got a few accessories waiting for this beast.

    Logitech Alto Notebook Stand
    Asus External ODD

Both still in their box waiting to be opened and used alongside my future 3820TG :D :D.

All that's left for me to get is a bluetooth mouse and 13" carrying case.

That alto stand is pretty nice. I can't believe I didn't notice that before.

There's a lot of opinions floating around about a bt mouse; I've used the logitech v470 and dell 5 button travel mouse. Both are great. Also consider the Logitech Anywhere MX. It's not bt, but the dongle is super small.

    For the case, 13.3" ZeroshockIII.

I want this laptop and I just bought a HP dm3t...
