I guess I should stop being so selfish in information.

Hi I'm from Singapore and I already got my 4820tg. And it is everything you expect it to be and more. The battery life is also as good as it claims using the powersmart mode that swaps to the integrated gpu. The only flaw i observed is that the speakers sound weird though it's Dolby home theatre bla bla bla.

specs are I7-620m, HD 5650, 640gb hdd and 4gb ram. The laptop stays pretty cool and even the hot air coming out of my fren's vaio z cannot compare with the coolness that the 4820tg exhales. Overall it is well built so far and the palmrest is nice. The touchpad scroll at the side is Abit big though so might accidentally activate the scrolling sometimes

    OMG you lucky fellow :D

Whats about noise (idle and stress) ? Does it stay silent in during office work / surfing?

Do you play Games? A small Benchmark would be so awesome! 3DMark06 at standart config please :)

You literally can't hear the fan lol. But I haven't really put it to max load though I do stuff like install, transfer, unrar, download and test chaos rising at one time :) sadly I tried maxing out everything and do the performance test but only 10fps on average. But take into consideration that I was doing alot of multitasking so it's not accurate :) I tried pcsx2 emulation too and it's smooth as butter. Gonna try supreme commander 2, bad company 2 and more later today. sorry 3dmark damn waste time lol

I guess all of the posters of this thread envy You.

You said You've just stopped being selfish, this may lead the thread to start "acting selfish": bencmarks, review, built quality, keyboard, pics, videos, etc? :D

    Pretty please! :D

The keyboard is standard acer ones which I don't really like coz I prefer chiclet keyboards. The screen is frankly average only compared to a Sony vaio z. However I feel it's almost as portable as the vaio z as it's quite thin and on top of that the specs blow the vaio out of the water. My friend is having buyers remorse as he spent 1.2k sgd more for the vaio hahahaha. But I got it from a collection so no official prices. It's not even out in the sg market.

I doubt i got time to take pics and vids and benchmarks but I'll snap a few pics of the box and exterior for you guys :)

    Thanks for the pics!

About HyperMemory...AFAIK the GPU can take use of the system's memory in addition to it's dedicated memory.

Regarding the thickness comparsion, I almost asked You whether You could compare it to Your iPhone's size, but then we wouldn't have anything to take a pictue with. :)

I've been using this Case Logic sleeve for some time now, and wouldn't change it. Well, in fact I did change it, but for the blue version of the same sleeve ;) The side pocket is big enough to fit the external ODD and/or the mouse... I sincerely recommend.

I like the pocket. It looks nice.

Great to see a machine with the right specs in circulation. Very glad to hear about the lack of heat. Now I can go back to waiting quietly until somebody gets a 3820TG/I7-620M/HD5650 in stock.

    Bronsky

Who is putting an SSD in theirs when they get it. Anybody have any picked out?

nice =) could you please present us with a good "heating test and review" info? Like putting it in great stress both to the CPU and GPU and how it handles the heat? also in normal (onboard video) use and the temperature to use it standing over your legs in the bed? :D

A bit low. But still the battery life should easily be better than the Asus N82.

I was wondering about this too, in addition to putting some more RAM in there (looks like 4GB is the standard; I'd like to put 6GB in there). But I'm worried about voiding the warranty by doing these upgrades...

FWIW, the intel 160GB G2 is probably one of the best for performance vs price unless you need more storage. It's the one I plan on putting in my dm3t. There's higher capacity ssd's but the prices are crazy, plus the intel's reliability is proven. For me at least, that's worth the price.

Usually upgrading the ram or hard drive won't void your warranty. Depends on manufacturer of course.
