Its actually not below $1000... Its more like $1230
-
Not to mention Sony downclocking the GT330M, so right, the HD5650 would for You better.
Not sure about the 540M would be the first to hit the US market though, 430M models are quite common, 620M in Singapore and maybe in other countries soon, 520M in China, but no sign of the 540M. I think we'll see the diavolo or the 520M edition sooner than the 540M ones. -
well, current currency is 1US dollar= 7.25 swedish crown but usually if a notebook costs 1000 dollar in US it costs 10000 swedish crown so instead of 1US dollar=7.25 crown it count as 1US dollar=10 swedish crown that would mean the model that costs 8999 swedish crown would cost 899 US dollar in US.

this sell strategy of acer is a no sense IMHO...
for i7 maybe undervolting... -
Bummer about the price in Europe. As for the screen, I was worried about it at first until I went to a Sony store and saw a Z in person. When open, the screen flexes when you torque the entire display from side to side. But, if you press on the back, there is absolutely no screen distortion. With the screen closed, the side to side flex is not an issue.
Therefore, I'm just going to be very careful about moving/carrying the laptop with the screen open. -
I also read somewhere that they purposely gave it some flex. This kind of makes sense, but I'm not sure they intended that line of reasoning from the beginning.
-
stop talking about the Z we want the acer timelinex already!!!!
-
Indeed, the Z is very expensive. Much more than the Timeline X. If someone out there has sourced a 3820 or 4820 that ships internationally with an English UK/US keyboard please let us know...Where all dying for this. (People that don't live in Singapore)
The local released timelineX 3820TG i3 with 5470 priced at 850 euros is not an option for me. I just don't understand Acer, why not release a i5 or i7 / 5650 model here or make the i3 model much cheaper.
Hell even the UK gets the bum spec and high price....Its as if they don't want to sell any. Go figure that one out... Silly Acer
-
When wille the Travelmate version be released...?
-
Here's an oddly numbered model (4740G) with an I5-520M/310M combination, like the Travelmates are supposto be configured. It was advertised in the link that Naadianaa provided.
WTS: ACER notebooks for sale from Ngee Ann Poly; better price for better specs - PC SHOW 2010 Pricelist | COMPUTEX 2010 | VRForums - Singapore IT & Lifestyle
I don't know about ordering these in the mail, but if I was going to Singapore, I would be meeting up with the seller and taking home a Timeline. The 3820TG is $1,200 USD even with the seller's comission and you get a bunch of free stuff with it. -
I am willing to buy the 3820tg (w/ at least i5-520/hd 5650 & English keyboard) from a foreign country and pay at most $200 dollars for shipping. Can someone give me a link please?
I live in United States. -
You and me both, unfortunately i don't think any English versions are out yet with at least the i5 and 5650. So we all wait and wait...
-
Well, I couldn't wait any longer...pulled the trigger on the Sony Z. So that should mean that Acer will release all of their models in the U.S. next week and they will all be priced ridiculously low.
Though I did get a pretty good deal on my Z.
For what it's worth, even with the Z's underclocked GT330M it looks like it still gets a decent 3DMark06 score (over 6000 I believe). A guy in the Z owner's forum overclocked it and got close to 7000, which is neck and neck with the 3820. Granted, I'm sure the 3820 will have more overclocking opportunities, as the Z already runs really hot even with the underclock....
Sorry! -
Well since I'm not a gamer
but do lots of video encoding instead. All I can say is tht the palm rest gets slightly warm during 720p video encoding. Hope tht helps.

The first of the Core I Travelmates (8132) finds its way onto an American retailer's site.
Preorder?
PROVANTAGE: Acer LX.TWN03.006 COREI3-330UMMOBILEPRO/2G/250G/11.6/WIN7
11.6" Travelmate. An I3-330UM??

Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
Wow Acer, that price. So that means the Core i5-520UM 1830T will be at lest $699.99. And boo at the 32-bit Win 7. -
If only, come on Acer !!
Get some 3820TG's out there
-
If anyone speaks or understands Czech I would appretiate info which of bellow shops ships to the UK:
Acer Aspire 3820TG-434G64MN LX.PV102.164 - SrovnaniCen.cz
Some prices are as low as £675 inc VAT for i5 430 with 5650. I'm 100% sure when it comes to Uk it will be at least £200-250 more. And the keyboard layout is almost indentical to the UK/US one.
-
I almost bought a Z (i know... no one wants to hear that
) or an Asus N82. But after i spotted the Acer 4820TG Il Diavolo, i might get one. The specs look really great. And the price is awesome.
Unfortunately there is no 3820TG with i7 in Germany. This would be even better. And the diavolo won't be available until the 13th of May. I don't want to wait anymore...
This might be a stupid question, but does anyone know, if the intel SSD is G1 or G2. I am afraid that it might be an older version. -
so in singapore, where exactly is it available?
-
There were a few options back then, not sure if these options are still available
1. Student offers, comes with student discounts
2. Road Show, comes with old laptop trade in discounts
3. Buy from someone that signed a broadband contract with a telco and got the 4820TG as a free gift (free gift was 4820T, but you were able to upgrade to 4820TG by paying abt 500 SGD at the collection center)
4. Buy from people that have access to the student offers in option 1 and pay them a commission -
I've been looking here too and the issue is finding which ones will ship in the EU...Any help also would be appreciated.
-
To be sure, there are still some G1's out there but the G2 has been in production for nearly a year. I would think that the Diavolo is most likely to come with a G2 version.
@Kancer If you have access to Singapore, I woud find out if any of the Ngee Ann Poly units are still available and speak to the person who was trying to broker those units. URL in my post at #2160. That looks like your best bet.

I think these guys ship internationally. czc.cz - Odborníci na po?íta?e a elektroniku I have emailed them asking them if they do and how to order through the website thats half English / Czech.
There is an option to set it in English, but it reverts back to Czech sometimes...
Price looks to be around 800 euros, 1000 USD? -
The 11.6" travelmate price is probably going to be close to a base 13" unit. My $380 1410T looks more like a bargain every day.
The 32bit Windows 7 pro is really a wonder to me. Why bother upgrading to W7Pro if your only going to offer the 32 bit version. Will the 32 bit license allow activation of a 64 bit pro version? And, are there that many people still using XP to warrant the XP step-down version?
Anyway, like the first robin in spring or the first swallow to return to Capistrano every year, I am hoping that the appearance of the 11.6" Travelmate means that we will start seeing Timelines show up on US sites soon.

Ok looking at the website, http://www.czechcomputer.cz/product.jsp?artno=76265&localelang=en_US
I signed up and tried to order a i5 430m and 5650 they ship to many counties via Czech post. USA is listed as "Spojené státy americké"
However where I live Spain or "Španělsko" in Czech isn't listed boo hoo ;( They also ship to the UK, Belgium, France, Holand, Singapore, Poland etc etc. Just not where I am
Clicking the stock check they have 8 in stock of i5 430m 5650's at around 1020 USD each... -
Well I live in Ireland and signed up and placed an order for the 3820TG-434G64MN. I opted for COD and for it to be delivered by post. Not sure how that would work, but I hope to hear back from them at the very least.
-
They wouldn't do COD to ireland, only Czech Republic I guess. They will no doubt ask you for advanced payment as per normal
I'm going to place an order as Malta, but under the notes put my correct address. Lets see what happens
-
That's my guess too haha. I see from your sig that you actually want the 520/540M? 430 good enough for you now?
-
I first wanted the i7, then I saw its a cooker. So I'm any i5, just not the i3 model
The i5 430 is still good and the price of around 800 euros
I placed my order too, lets see what happens. I'll let you know. -
Remember to calculate the correct TAX if you compare shop prices between different countries.
For example in germany the customer prices in online shops always include 19% tax. On the other hand in the US the prices seem always to be without tax.
I don't think that you have to pay tax for an export, but you will have to pay the tax of your own country and perhaps add some extra for international toll. -
abaddon4180 Notebook Virtuoso
Any word on the pricing of the 4820 with the 5470 (I don't really need a 5650)?
-
Thats the final price, including the 20% vat. -
Cz computers canceled my order. They don't ship outside of the Czech or Slovak republic...Oh well I tried. I'm starting to loose hope.
-
any reason to choose the 1830t over the travelmate 8172?
-
Thats sucks.
Maybe we should inform them that there is couple of people from UK willing to order, maybe even direct them to look through this thread. It's not like shipping within EU is so much complicated. I know I'm starting to sound desperate but the truth is that at least here in England this laptop won't come out for probably 1 more month and it won't be getting any cheaper either. And there's not much competition in terms of battery/graphics/size on a market for the forseeble future. So given 3 different keys on Czech keyboard I dont see the reason not to order if possible. -
I'm also based in the UK and have been hankering after this laptop since its announcement what seems like years ago. I really need a new laptop by mid-June. If Acer wanna screw about with their distribution system then they can kiss my money good-bye.
A part of me now wants another company to release a new model which will blow Acer out of the water, and it'll serve them right as well for all the messing about they're doing. I can't even get a straight answer out of their customer service, I just keep getting told that they're waiting on news from the supplier. Correct me if I'm wrong but they are expecting to release it here in May, it's now the last day of April and they still have no idea on which models they're going to sell, never mind about having them in stock! -
Yea this lappy was supposed to be released in March/April and now is May and it's still only available in few central European countries. Whereas Acer Ethos which was announced on the same convention but to be due June/July is already available to preorder but this time only in... Australia
Can anyone make any sense of this "release policy"? -
Did Acer ever announce that?
-
Waiting patiently for the Travelmate version!
-
Well I asked to speak with the Manager and told them there are others interested but it seems its a company policy. We just have to look else where I guess. Back to google searching in vain..
I remember seeing that Acer UK has the 3820TG but will be stocking only i3 / 5450 models. And charging around 800 pounds for them
-
Such a shame that UK is missing all this masterpiece. Either they should have released it worldwide or not release it at all. What game is acer playing?
-
Don't know the details. I'm basing this statement entirely on info like "this machine will hit the shelves in March" from press releases afet CEBIT 2010. It might be incorrect ofc.
-
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
Looks. The 1830t looks better. -
I was trying to wait out the 3820tg, but a certain US retailer just got the Asus u30jc back in stock. I need a laptop in my hands by May 17th. Should I take my chances and wait out the 3820tg's US release & specs or settle with the u30jc?
-
You still have 17 days till May 17th
.
And i'd never want to settle! -
Anybody who was considering a 3820TG with the ATI HD5470 might have the option to buy a dell before the Acer gets here. A new Inspiron series has been released in Hong Kong.
Inspiron 13R Laptop Details | Dell Hong Kong
13"/I5-520M/HD5470/4GB DDR3/500GB 7200rpm HD in a brushed aluminum case. These are really nice looking machines. Should be interesting to see, if Dell doesn't overprice them.
Dell will have this on US sites soon I am sure. If nothing else, Dell is fairly good at distribution.
Makes me wonder if the refreshed Studio 13 XPS will have an HD 5650 and an I5-540M or I7-620M as the Studio normally has higher specs than the Inspiron.

The Canadian Anouncement of the 11.6" Travelmate says it will be available on May 15th. -
Nice! That Inspiron looks great! Too bad it doesn't have at least an HD 5650.
-
I don't care what comes first xps 13 or this w/e first with 5650 in 13.3 i will snatch!!
-
My cousin in Singapore still hasn't received the laptop yet
They haven't charged my credit card yet either.. I'm beginning to worry.
