Who else is on the hunt for the Acer Aspire One with Windows XP, 160gb, and a six-cell battery. I ordered mine threw buy.com and I was able to get in on the amazon.com before they stopped taking pre-orders. I figured I'll keep whoever shipped first and cancel the other since they dont charge my credit card until they actually ship.

I'm starting a list for other possible places to get the 160gb six-cell version because:
    - amazon.com is no long taking orders for the blue or white version (helping out those who didn't get in on the deal)
    - buy.com seems to take infinit number of orders, I do not see how can they possible fulfill all their orders. (Hopefully the can)

If your able to find a site that has them in stock or just taking orders, after you buy yours, please share the link with others here in this thread.

Doing a quick google search, I found a few places to start the search.

Thanks! :) Now I have one on order at Buy.com & one at Amazon. I thought I'd hold on to an unopened 120gb version in blue in case Acer chose to hold up intro of the 6 cell version until Xmas but it has to be returned to Best Buy by Friday!! Oh well. Wish they'd hurry it up.

Yes, it is designed that way, you can do things in Windows/Linux to lower it but it still runs.

This website, shopblt.com, is pretty cool. On their website it shows how many people ordered and how many they will get. They are going to get 600 of the blue aspire and 600 white aspires with an ETA of 09-18-2008. If your ordering the blue version, it looks like you have to wait until the next batch. Might be able to get in on the white one. I wish amazon.com and/or buy.com did this too so we knew what place in line we all stood.

Just thought I would mention, for anyone in Ontario, I just picked mine up today.

I got it from Canada Computers, it was $429.99 + tax. This is after the exchange rate. $399.95 is in USD.

Also, if anyone can find a link to a Canadian Store, that has it for less, that would be great. Thanks.

    Link right here.

Did you get one in the Onyx Black color? If so, when you post pictures, would you show it with the protruding 6-cell battery so we can see how it looks with the battery sticking out? I'm hoping that the black battery on the black AA1 won't look so bad. Thanks.

I just checked the two websites I posted earlier that had ETA's for today and they are now showing ETA dates of 10/10/2008 and 10/25/2008.

Do you think amazon.com and buy.com also have the same ETA's?

Also did anyone notice that bestbuy.com no longer has the Aspire One AOA150-1570, 3-cell battery with 120gb HDD, on their website.

One more thing about the Aspire One AOA150-1570 for people around me. The Micro Center in Paterson, NJ has 251 of them in stock.

That's it for now. Here's to hoping we all get email's later today telling us our A1 has shipped.

keyboard mainly, and that is a big thing with many. Thus far, I believe the Acer US keyboard is the only one out of all the recent netbooks (asus eee, msi wind, hp, lenovo, dell) to have large shift keys on both left and right.

So the US board = big shift key

    Canada = little keyboard

    Is that the only difference?

NCIX has 160GB 6 cell Acer aspire one available for a few days already. Its regular price is $429.99.

They had the 120GB 6 cell battery Acer aspire one for $390 2 days ago.

not "little keyboard", the keyboard is the same size, certain keys are different. The left shift key is big on the US model, on the CAN model, it is not the same as the space is also being used by another key for french characters (set for \).
The Enter key is two keys tall vs being 2 keys wide.
There might be more but those two are the big ones that I notice.

    Great find.
ncix.com and ncixus.com seems to have the blue and black one in stock.
The only other site known to have stock is cdw.com They have black one.

Agreed. Some of the model numbers and part numbers do not match the Acer website.

Well, I gave up on Buy.com and ordered from CDW today. CDW sold out of their 150 in stock Onyx Black Aspire and had sold 26 of the additional 50 that were due to arrive in the next two days.
I decided to pay total of $438 from CDW compared to $384 for a blue one from Buy.com in order to get the darn thing sooner.
Buy.com $399 plus free shipping and no tax and $15 off promo code.
CDW $399 plus $10 shipping DHL and tax.
As of 10AM Central there were still around 20 unclaimed black Aspire expected to arrive in the next two days at CDW.

I gave up on Amazon and Buy.com and ordered mine (blue) from NCIX on the 18th. It should be here soon it has already shipped out. I will tell you guys if its the bi-lingual keyboard or not, personally I dont care that much and it sounds as if the estimated time of arrival for Amazon is November. I payed $420 with overnight shipping.

Is there a reason why everyone is so crazy to get the 160GB version instead of just buying the 120GB version that is readily available?

The 160GB version has a 6 cell battery compared to a 3 cell battery in the 120GB version. Twice the usable time on battery power which is important for a netbook. The battery alone is $100 to $120 purchased as an accessory.
The 40GB increase in HD, not so important.

    What Oberkanone said.

Also, try finding the 120GB version at retail price. Most websites that have stock are selling them for around $400 dollars anyway so why not go for the 160GB model.

The only place to get the 120GB version at retail price is at the B&M store Micro Center. Unfortunately not everyone lives next to a Micro Center and they only offer in store pickup.

They have 120GB versions with 6 cell, it's not like the 160GB model is the only one that has the 6 cell.

And it's more than twice the battery life. Take it from one who has 3 and 6 cell battery ;) 2200mah vs 5200mah.

I was just curious as to why people are so willing to still wait for the 160gb/6cell model when the 120gb/6cell model was available over a month ago?

Here in the U.S., I believe the 160GB models are the first to carry the 6 cell battery.

What is the model number and/or part number of your 120GB/6 cell netbook?

160GB is the first HD model to be released in the US with a 6 cell battery. They are only now starting to ship in very small quantities.
120GB was never available with 6 cell in US.

Yesterday I ordered a Black Aspire One 160GB 6 Cell from CDW between 10 and 11 AM and it shipped yesterday. Woo Hoo!
If I posted this on the Aspire One forum I would cause a riot as there is a festival of complaining about CDW. I'm happy, and I've never been disappointed by CDW. More expensive, better service.
Now, I need to find out when DHL will deliver it.

Wooohooo! I've been waiting for this to be available on the US site. I ordered mine the second I saw this. Thanks It is about $35 more than if I went through buy.com, but I don't have patience like that.

Ok, fair enough, I did not realize the 120GB model was not available with 6 cell in the US (though i'm sure I've seen people with it on AspireOneuser.com forums but regardless)..

Mine is the LU.S050A.006, originally with 3 cell/linux/120GB drive but I could have had the 6 cell for around $100 more at the time (was $429 for 6 cell with 1GB RAM/120GB and $319 for the one I got). I ended up buying a 6 cell battery for $108 so I think I came out pretty close to even, maybe even a bit ahead.
