Has everyone knows, I got my Acer, and plan on having it for 2-3 years and hope it will still have a kick in it... my question is:
Since its a display model, The guy at the sotre said nobody should of been touching it, so it was just taken out, opened, and without the battery, booted. (Means no wear on the battery). Now, It seems to work fine, so noi need to take it back. I am gonna do a system restore this friday. But I need to know, Is there any tests I should do? Anything I should check to make sure this laptop is still in pefect condition?

    Things I've checked:
    tried playing DVD, Worked
Screen seemed to be in perfect condition, as my teacher said as well.
Tried my digital camera card in 5-1 reader, worked
Tried USB mouse in one of the ports. Worked (So I guess the other 2 should work as well)

So, Anything else that should really be done after the restore?

Thanks. And sorry for asking the same question over and over, just need to make sure this thing wont be junk.

You need to probably do the following:
Run 3dMark03/05 a few times to get the GPU (tests the cooling system too).
Run SuperPI to stretch out the CPU (tests the cooling system too).
Run PCMark to test just about everything on the CPU.
Run MemX86 to check the RAM out and test the chipset.
Run HD Tune to see the status of the hard drive and to make sure it is functioning fast enough.

If you have no clue how to acquire the programs, run them, or interpret the data then we have a problem here :( Either find some faq's on the internet or guides to this information or find someone who might be able to help you.

I know that we run many of these tests when we benchmark the laptops on their performance - http://www.notebookreview.com/reviews/ . Every review uses these tools, why not benchmark your pc with the results and then compare them to the results that someone else found! Sounds like a good idea to me ;)

Yea. I also plan on calling the shop tommorw, where I got it. And asking for rather a refund, or a new one once they get them in.

Edit: Not a refund, a discount.

So you bought a used/abused display model for full price?

And then you didn't know how to use the keyboard to edit your message instead of typing in "Edit: Not a refund, a discount?"

I am just trying to piece together the type of person we are dealing with here...

as for little to late for a discount, Yea, I think I am just gonna keep it.

No its not a used/abused display model, its a display model that was in a case where nobody can touch it, you jack ass.

I hate to get mad at members, but I didn't care for your resposne to much, so I could care less.

As for all the other members that have/did/are helping me, Very Very Very Big Thank you. And I hope you all enjoy your holidays.

Sorry you got upset, but I just wanted to let you know that you were stupid for buying an open box electronic item for full price. Don't take it personally.

I always try to help people out even if it is letting them know they are stupid. Don't shot the messenger.

    I didn't pick it up ;)

Also, the seal was on it, but its obvious it was a display model, but if it works why bother taking it back. although I did contact the shop, they said it was in the case and that nobody can touch them, so it should be fine...
