    Hey guys,

I was wondering if I should go with this laptop here:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115486

Specs are great and price is amazing but it comes with a 8600GT instead of 9500GS like all the other models so I'm a bit concerned whether I'll be getting what I see there. It also seems to have much better specs for the price than other sites. Am I missing something or is really just a good deal?

Its a reasonable deal......looks like a clunky computer though.....such a big notebook can pack a much bigger performance punch but if it fits your needs.........go for it!!!!

It's supposed to be a desktop replacement so weight isn't really an issue or me. The price seems nice for the specs though.

If you want a desktop replacement, try gettin' a 8920. Almost same thing, but with a bigger screen and without any expandability problems.

That’s a lot of laptop for under a grand!
Newegg is a good place to buy anything; because if it’s not what it’s supposed to be you can just return it. But if that’s indeed what you get, seems like a nice fine. It should have no expandability problems at all with 4xUSB, HDMI, Express Card slot, VGA and Fingerprint reader.

    Cool, I'll order it then.

CQ, 8920 is great but I can't stretch my budget to that amount. This one still has what I need for a good price.

    Thanks to all.

I can explain away the graphics card - the 9500M GS is nothing more than a die shrink of the 8600M GT. Same clocks, just runs slightly cooler with less power draw.
I've seen a few places where the 9500M GS is erroneously referred to as the 8600M GT, including Acer Canada's own product catalogue. Needless to say, I'm almost certain the 6920G would be a 9500M GS when you get it.

I've got a similar config myself - slower CPU, Blu-Ray drive, bigger HDD - and I love it to little bitty pieces.
