Hi there,
2 questions about the 4830TG notebooks. Its about time I upgraded my Viao SZ90 to something descent, and I am a little bit of a Acer fan these days. However I do not think the 4830TG will play NS2 well [Natural Selection2]
1) I would like to know whether its possible to swap out the Intel i3 2.5Ghz CPU in the 4830 with a i7 CPU. Is it possible to plug an i7 CPU into this? I've seen the 5830 available with a Intel Core i7-2620M and 2640, so maybe its possible to slot one into the 4830.
2) Has anyone over-clocked the GPU and managed to stop the CPU from under-clocking itself due to the increased heat generated?
Any ideas about what is possible?
For those that ineviably ask why I wish to find out: the 4830 is about the right size for a desktop replacement and a traveling notebook whereas the 5830 is a little too large. Of course, I would like to have my cake and eat it with a 4830 with an i7 chip inside it.
Regards, z

It is possible to upgrade the CPU although with throttling issues that occur with no OC at all and new line of Acer notebooks being rolled out I'd skip over 4830TG and give the newcomers a look.

Hi Downloads and cheers.
Is there any information on a expected release date for the new line, or even what the specifications may be?

Take a look here. 15" model is already available and 14" is on its way.

I had a look at some of the photographs and admit it is one of the ugliest notebooks I have happened upon. It is quite plain compared to the 4830/5830, which have a little style.
The hardware specifications of the new Acer is rather nice.

It's a bit too boring to be ugly bit I agree it's not a looker.
Then again a lot more fps in games will compensate for this -
//edit.
This looks prettier. Maybe it'll have a good GPU.

Yep, the greater FPS may well make up for it. -
