If I have it plugged in it'll just sit there for a long time on the Acer splash screen and eventually just go to the normal HD. I've formatted the flash drive multiple times and I have booted from a USB drive (Albeit a different one)

I'm wondering if maybe I need to update my BIOS or what. I'm a little bit scared of that though because my computer has frozen on me a couple times and I don't want to ruin it by messing up while it's updating BIOS.

Not all USB Drives are bootable... Not saying this is your problem, just throwing that out there.
